I converted two preppy’s for my children, unfortunately turned out to be a very fragile plastic and now those are using cartridges again (a refillable one), but they were awesome with all that ink sloshing inside, and is good to hear a qualified candid opinion from an incredible expert as your kid. 👏👏👏👏👍

Thanks! I'll keep an eye on the Preppy for cracks. He does love to help with the videos and often surprises me with his opinions and knowledge.

The Platinum Preppy is a great starter pen, you can't go wrong with the price. I definitely would recommend it for someone getting into fountain pens. Another great inexpensive pen is the Pilot Petit1 and it's quite small and easy to take anywhere.

The Preppy is a nice writer too. I haven't tried the Pilot Petit yet.

Well! Thanks to you and Sam! RE comment above (MANC - thanks) about fragile plastic, have you attempted this with the Pilot Varsity? Everyone says it can be done. If ever I have grandchildren, I'd want to start them with easily replaceable pens.

I’ve an old one Varsity and I’ve heard that it can be refilled, but it has been hard to remove the feed, but I’ll make another attempt on this. I’ll comment if I succeed on this endeavor.

I've seen videos but I haven't tried it myself. I'd like to try.

I wonder how well that particular ink would work in an 03 Preppy. Is that too fine?

I have it in a 05 and it works well. It looks very nice in the body of the pen too. I think it would work in an 03.

Glitter inks do tend to work better in med, broad and stub nibs. From experience, it can clog your nib. The reflective particles need to get through the feed and very narrow ink channel.
