I just bought a Platinum President with a Broad nib and am really enjoying it. I have a bottle of Platinum Citrus Black and use it often. I enjoy watching the color change in the page. 🙏🏻🖋

My President has a broad nib but ground to a cursive italic. It's one of my favorites among my modern pens.

I love my Platinum President Burgundy coarse nib. I bought it through amazon Japan. Amazon Japan charged me the Belgian value added tax. Sadly it is not a piston filler. I bought in Belgium an adapter that helps me use generic cartridges, but that does not work well. I love the proprietary cartridges with a ball of metal. You hear the metal ball when you shake the pen. It reminds me of Japanese soda. Platinum has its plant near Ueno Park. What more can I add? It is my best purchase so far. I also own a Lamy 2000 BB makrolon and Lamy 2000 stainless steel OBB.

Nice to see you try out Citrus Black so quickly! I believe I recommended this in a comment just 3 weeks ago. It's one of my favorite inks in very wet nibs. For me it doesn't really get to black, but to a very nice extremely shaded brownish tone. The very quick color change is a bit of a gimmick, and I agree that it's sometimes hard to read when you do just put it down on the paper, but the results are lovely. By the way, it is even more fun in a clear demonstrator pen, because the ink is so ridiculously light.

Cool looking pen. I enjoy the 3776 and have wondered about the President. Or maybe I should just save up for a Nakya...

I bought a med a few years ago, it’s one of my favorites….they are getting harder to find, but just found a black one with an B nib for $138!! It hard starts on the first stroke sometimes, but perfect other than that, and to be honest, I didn’t clean it before using so I’m sure I’ll be able to fix it. If not, it’s not a huge inconvenience. I also like that, unlike the standard 3776, the resin body holds up great, no scratches.

Huge fan of Platinum nibs: I’ve got a medium, EF and UEF and they all write perfectly - the EF is my favourite!:)

I have Noodler's Harold's Hearse fp ink. I love it. Wonder how it looks next to the Citrus Black?

Happy Fountain Pen Day! BTW, when you wrote 'Goodbye' at the very end of the video, you seemed to be writing too close to the page's edge. Isn't there space on this Tomoe River notebook, or you can just simply flip the page and write one word. Just pointing it out. I got only four fountain pens to use since I've been in the hobby for almost 4 years, and I'm still a beginner! What cards do you use to do colour swatches?

Would you choose a President or a 1911 if you could only purchase one?
@WhatIInk Жыл бұрын
Probably the President, but you can't go wrong with either.

@@WhatIInk thanks. I already have a wicked witch 1911 with a fine nib. I find the feedback excessive for my taste. So I was thinking about trying a President in a M or a B nib. I’m a ballpoint guy who presses too hard. My M800 EF works perfect and is smooth for me, but I much prefer the body size of my 1911. So searching for the in between pen. Would love a MB 146 but it isn’t in the cards at this point in time.

when you first showed us this pen, I thought it might be another Platinum 3776 but that pen has a slightly plainer clip and, I’m guessing, is considerably shorter; think a Coarse nib might not be the best nib for me, but very interesting to see nonetheless!; it doesn’t say so on the box, but is Citrus Black an iron gall ink? - know IG inks are slightly acidic: are there any extra precautions you need to take with these types of inks?; thanks for this: right up my street, like!:)

It has iron but not gall, that makes the difference when it comes to acidity.

So many people call out lower priced copies...but here we can see Platinum & Sailor have both copied Montblanc.

Mention prices

What I pay for pens is irrelevant as prices are highly local depending on where in the world you are and can change over time. If you want to know how much any pen will cost you at any point in time you can Google it in about 5 seconds.
