Also the NGK CR9EKB which is the copper variant. Shorter life, but replace them every 25hrs and at a far reduced cost compared to the Iridium & Platinum. Whichever of the 3 options you choose, antiseize on the plugs everytime and grease on the boots.
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
Didn’t know you could run the copper plug on the 310. I’ll have to get a set to test out. Yes it would be a big mistake to forgo anti-size and boot grease- big regrets later! Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment 😎

Glad to hear the iridium are doing well. Nothing cheap about the OEM platinum plugs. Thanks for sharing.
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
Those OEM plugs are some of the ‘best’ high performance plugs you can buy is what I’ve been conditioned to believe..lol

I’m happy selling out the $20 per plug if it means my ski will run its best..the Iridium are supposedly pretty good as well, I’m kind of expecting them to begin showing signs of failure around 15 hrs but we shall see

@@JDsWaterWorld any update on the long term performance vs the platinums? also what do you notice when the plugs need to be replaced? reduced performance?

Lets us know how these look the next time you swap them out
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
Yeah I’m curious to see if they last a full 25 hours - I always thought iridium was stronger than platinum but I guess the platinum NGK plugs have a thicker coating of platinum that supposedly makes them last longer. If these work, I can save a ton of money cause those stupid platinum ones are nearly $100 a set, 4x a year at the rate inside

Hi JD, let me know how the new plugs perform. Quick question. Do you know what happens to the spark plugs so they lose performance after 25 hors on our ski's? Thanks for all your posts!
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
So far the iridium are running great, performance is on par with the more expensive platinum ones. So I think it has to do with the precious metal on the copper tip of the electrode wearing away and getting tarnished due to the high heat, humidity, and turbulence of the combustion process- especially in these boosted engines that run under heavy continuous load. As the conductor wears, the spark becomes weaker…which leads to subpar combustion.

Great question btw!

I think I will run the Iridium then. As always, thanks for the reply JD!

Hey JD, would you recommend iridium plugs in my STX 160X, I have 30 hours and fogged up for storage for the winter, next spring I will run the old plugs to run out the fogger, then I will change them to stock or iridium🤙🤙🤙
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
Nah those use the CR9EK multi-ground copper plug-same as my Ultra LX- just use those, they are cheap and last 50+ hours on that ski, no need fore the fancier plugs

Whats the difference between the EIX AND EIB?
@fzr1000981 Жыл бұрын
I always thought iridium lasted longer because it's a much harder material. Not a marine application but that was my experience running them in the RX-7. Agree on the 25 hr service life regardless on this ski
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
I thought so too…I think with the Laser Platinum they are “double platinum” plugs and that’s why they are more expensive and last a bit longer whereas the iridium have less actual iridium on the electrode

@JDsWaterWorld18 күн бұрын
Both iridium and platinum start to rust in salt water after 25 hours I have found. The platinum you can stretch to about 35 hours it seems, so the platinum last a bit longer

Do you think it would void your Kawasaki warranty if you use iridium instead of platinum?
@JDsWaterWorld3 ай бұрын
Not unless your dealer is a big doosh
@JDsWaterWorld2 ай бұрын
Who knows...probably not..but depends on what the warranty claim would be for...as a rule of thumb- always make sure your ski is in stock configuration before taking it into the dealer

ngk plugs are junk, do a comparison with other makes, not all oem parts are good as you see from doing upgrades yourself. plugs should last a season at least.
@JDsWaterWorld Жыл бұрын
Not on this ski- 25 hours is the normal service interval as specified by Kawasaki. What is wrong with NGK? Champion does not have anywhere near the options, and most badge brands are Chinese
