I've got a 2021 LRDM without the Performance Pack but I did add the Performance Software Update for the extra HP. While my example car does not have the improved control of the Performance Pack or the BST 270, it does have the extra horsepower and feels much quicker. After 2 years, I still love my Polestar 2!

As a pervious owner of a BMW m3 and a big power for sierra cosworth for nearly 10 years ,I now see no point in owning a big power car while living in Britain let alone London. What's the point in having a 400 bhp car with a 0.60 time of around 4 secs when the average speed in London is 8 mph .20 mph zones ,speed bumps speed cameras, pots holes absolutely everywhere and then there's the cycle lanes that have engulfed London..I will only buy an electric car when they can comfortably achieve 500 miles in cold weather with a full load of passengers and a fully loaded boot .until then I will drive my little skoda citigo go for daily duties and my brand new volkswagan t6.1 transporter camper van at the weekends 😀

Bingo! The answer to the power question: because it’s great fun from 0-30 or 40 or whatever the legal limit is. Never gets boring. How often do you need 500 miles of daily range, without stopping for 30mins for a refreshment & charging break !? 🤔 That’s over 8 hours of driving at 60mph average. This amount of range is an useful as the high power you mentioned in your post - 99% of drivers don’t need it !

Thank you for the video and review! While certainly interesting insight, I'm confused as to why you chose to compare apples to oranges here? The regular dual motor version lacks a lot of the features that the performance pack includes. And had you compared the BST 270 to the performance pack version, it would've given a better idea of what you get for the added cost - since they share almost all the same features as I'm sure you know. I don't think anyone who had considered the BST edition thought about getting the regular dual motor version instead. Oh, and you might've mentioned, that the odds of getting a BST 270 at this point are very likely slim to none for most markets. Anyway, thanks for the work, and all the best!

It upsets me to know that some automakers of electric cars are selling cars with motors that can output more power than the driver has access to. Some automakers are hiding their vehicles performance and self-driving features behind a paywall to make more money. You wouldn't buy a cellular phone or computer that has it's processing power halved if you don't pay for a subscription, so why buy a car that has reduced power if you don't pay extra?

Sure the range figures aren’t realistic in the real world but 240 miles of range is plenty for me as I’m lucky enough to have off street parking to charge it on. The problem is not with the vehicles themselves but the public charging network and rules regarding on street charging. In certain boroughs of London now you plug into a lamp post. Also that power is huge but you'd expect a bit more straight line performance given the numbers. My Model 3 LR, no performance boost, straight off the boat, did 0-60 in 4.1s last summer when we tested it (with Dragy). I'll confess that the handling on the Polestar is probably far better on-track, but it ought to be for such a significantly high price tag.
