So as far as I understand during the beginning of the of the game based on what you set your cost at can you just pick any card you want. Or do you have to random draw them. I don't understand the rules when it comes to picking cards. Other then no tank can have more then 3 diffrent ammo cards etc and cards have to be in your cost limit. I do agree the best way to get a good platoon is to keep playing the game and see what out comes you get and see what tanks work the best.

Are there any special rules, such as shooting a tank that has high ground, if you have that advanced game board? Or going into a river that you might have added?

Hills allow for the hull down rule, otherwise the scenery is just there to look the part!

My Personal Platoon: Pls no one copy Requires: Starter set, Valentine, Su-100, M3 Lee, and Stug expansions T-34 - 40 coins Light APCR Shell- 1 coin Adrenaline Rush - 1 coin Cyclone Filter - 3 coins Snap Shot - 3 coins Repair- 1 coin Panzer IV H - 35 coins Bernold Knoke - 2 coins Gun Rammer - 2 coins Sixth Sense - 6 coins Valentine - 33 coins Phillip Young - 2 coins SU-100 - 51 coins Safe Stowage - 2 coins Enhanced Gun Laying Drive - 2 coins Damir Nelrazov - 9 coins Heavy APCR Shell - 2 coins Ok i guess you can copy this but this deck dominates my friends with the T-34 and Panzer as the main raiding tanks and the SU-100 as a sniper-type role. The Valentine is mainly there as portable cover, but also to boost the firepower of my other tanks. I know it sounds strange, but my platoon works perfectly if you can get the opponent to target the Valentine while my other tanks obliterate them. My main strategy is to get it out in the open while also retaining as much cover as possible. The SU-100 uses the recon ability at the beginning of the game to get to a forest (On Damir Nelrazov) And the T-34 and Panzer try and raid from one side (depending on what the table is set up with.)

I still far prefer to play the original games rules that each platoon has to be made up of tanks from the same country. It just looks and feels so much more thematic than the random mishmash of WoT games. Maybe someday they will bring back the old National special abilities in a card form or something that is only available if you field a platoon of all one country's vehicles? That would be interesting and give more people a reason to look into nation pure builds.

I agree! I do miss the old tank rule but I hope the WoT MG can bring some more unique tanks. Huge fan Trueflight Silverwing!

@@mrsquiddler Thanks. I plan on keeping up the WoT tank reviews as long as they keep publishing them. I'm just sad to have to let go of the old game after having o much fun with it.

Not sure what exactly you mean by only having one nation since I never played the previous tanks game, but all you have to do is set a game up where all the players only play as one nation for WoT. Did the previous game have something more with regards to this?

@@SeanUCF The original tanks game had nation specific bonuses that applied to the various tanks. (German tanks had a Blitzkrieg ability that let them move once after firing, Americans had Gung Ho which allowed them to make count their movement as 1 less when firing, I think the Russians had some kind of reroll on attacks, and so on). These were just nice nods to the various factions. The Modern Age version of the game moved those kind of abilities over to upgrade cards that could be taken if all of the vehicles in your platoon were of the same nation. It might have been something that they brought over from Team Yankee for the game or something. It would be nice to see something similar be brought back for this version. I can understand why it isn't there though anymore as there really is no mechanic like it in World of Tanks (in fact they kind of promote random, cross faction teams in the game), but they also introduced the Tank Class specific bonuses which seem to have replaced it (like the Medium Class Tank ability to reroll a missed die). There is also a much smaller selection of tanks available at the moment for the WoT version (currently only 3 options per faction), which makes playing nation pure platoons a bit difficult at the moment as well. I might just take the old existing abilities and make my own cards for them to be used in our home games for fun.

@@Trueflights I see. Yeah those do sound like neat little bonuses and I like those kinds of nods to the history. I'm kind of two minds about it. I really like matching up the nations against each other but also find it cool that you can mix them together to add some variety. I think a nice balance would be to give a bonus for having your platoon be all one nation.
