Play Ableton Push like a piano with two hands. Breakdown of one of the most useful two handed techniques to expressively play Push in chromatic mode, just like a piano.
In this video, I show how to spell out chords with your left hand while playing melodies with you right hand. Includes a piano overlay with chord and interval names to help translate what you see and hear on Push.
---
Learn the fundamentals of the language of music with Ableton Push. I am excited to share the first installment of my music classes with Push.
This class will teach you about note names, scales, intervals, chords and chord progressions through the lens of Ableton Push. Includes 20 videos and 5 PDF slides with overlays of note names, scales, scale degrees, sharps and flats and roman numerals.

Just watched the video all the way through, the other thing I wanted to add: You're like... the one channel that actually shows how to interact with the push as if it were an actual instrument. It's pretty rare to be able to find content like this. TL;DR - You're an absolute gem and I look forward to seeing your channel reach 100k subscribers.

@@jxmieblake Ha no pressure, don't want you burning out feeling obligated to upload videos for us mere peasants. But we sure do appreciate the value you bring because no one else is doing what you're doing and dare I say - even capable of what you're doing! Regardless, looking forward to seeing more content from you. Interested to see how you tackle bass and sub-bass, hoping that's on your list of things to teach. See a lot of tutorials on how to sound design but virtually none on treating bass as it's own instrument.

Nice vid and good to see you posting again. I'd be interested in Push technique for those of us that are not piano players. I understand where 3rds 5ths 7ths are, but knowing where to play when I get far from the root gets challenging. I.E. How to come up with right hand notes, for those less versed on the piano. Just saying since you asked. :-) Cheers

Couldn't you do all that in scale mode and then dial in your scale? What do you like about using chromatic mode vs locking stuff in a scale?
@jxmieblake
@jxmieblake 3 жыл бұрын
In this particular example all the notes are diatonic, so chromatic mode isn’t necessary. It’s still best to learn in chromatic mode though, as it’s not limited to diatonic notes (just like piano/guitar/bass/etc). I show this in my other videos and will be posting a new video soon about this topic :)
