It feels so good to finally be getting the hang of this on my six string! Since I was a little kid, I always quit at things and it's left me with no talents now as an adult, so I'm so happy to be sticking with this and finally learning something I've always wanted to learn! Your lessons are the best and I'm so beyond grateful for your videos and your help.

So glad you came back, Bob ! We missed you. The "play along" part with you is a very good method to become aware of our real abilities. For a few months I have been learning the ukulele. Taking back my guitar thanks to your return is a real pleasure. I realize that this song is a gem of simplicity when it comes to tackling fingerpicking: just a finger on the left hand to play the whole song! There is no simpler. Everything is intact in the memory, the fingers run on their own up to 100 bpm. A little practice and I'll go faster. Thank you so much. Viv

Hi Viv, here we go again finally with more guitar lessons. This play along was at the top of my list to put out as so many people kept asking "is there a play along for this"? I realize now that a lot of the original group here are also appreciating it as a warm up. I also spotted a big error in the Tux guitar file for this song and corrected it. 100 is fantastic- you will play it for a few days or so and it will be 110 no problem (you know the drill!!) . Very fulfilling for me to hear of so many having great progress and you now the multi-instrumentalist- very impressive!! As always, many thanks.. bob

Hi, Bob - I'm so happy that you are back!! I am happy to report you that I made some tangible progress in playing with the metronome. Now, I am having lots of fun playing the 4 hillbilly songs as my daily routine practice. They all are good & fun, however, I am having the most fun playing "The Old Shoes." It makes me happy, so it makes me a Happy Picker. I still think you are the "BEST". I appreciate very much for the lessons. Thank you!
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Yongsun McCarley, great to hear from you and yes, I am back- (hobbling a little due to faulty technology but back!). I got to say that those Hillbilly songs (kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWOYlZqGg9uoZsk) are a lot of fun to play. The Hillbilly Serenade seems to be the most popular but I think like you, the Old Shoe is the most fun to play (at least for me). I grew up with that style of music but started with the banjo which is easier to pick a melody line out from it (due to the tuning). So Old Shoe is a good workaround to banjo style despite the guitar tuning. Anyway, so glad that you are a Happy Picker!! More to follow! Big thanks and see you soon in the next video! bob

Hi Beena! Merry Christmas and congratulations on making it here!!! WAY TO GO!!! You are doing great as the idea as you know is to move the metronome up slowly over time. Hi Bob, Long story short, Im a retired 69 year old who received a giutar from my wife just this past christmas. Looked around here on YT for some lessons and started doing some strumming. Then, came across your videos, and immediately decided that I wanted to do this fingerpicking. Don't know why, but it sounds better, maybe more musical to me, then just strumming chords. Now I'm hooked on fingerpicking. Working on 80BPM. Determined to make it to 110 BPM. Thank You for making these videos!! Looking forward to meeting the goal and then learning more.

Hi The Music Room! You are doing great and I'm happy you made it this far with the course! @@JustSayin53 Hey Jerry, yes yes, remember Lary Lujack well and used to listen all the time. I grew up in Downers Grove and the WCFL (3 towers) were right down the street from me! Those sure were great times! I'm in NJ now and can pick up a Chicago station late at night (I want to say it's WLS but it's been a while). I know you can just get these stations on the internet now but that takes away all the fun of trying to reel in a station from long distance.

Hi Leppy Leppy,great to hear from you and thanks for watching here! First off, I love the guitar work on that song- just sounds so clear and perfectly timed. You will be pleased to know that Sweet Surrender is an advanced version of this very pattern!!! So you could play this song with the basic pattern I'm showing here and as time goes on, start adding some of the notes that create the melody part he is playing on guitar. Also too btw, there are 2 acoustic guitars on this song that are playing and harmonizing so perfectly, what a great blend.. For learning it, It's just a matter knowing the chords and plugging in this pattern and playing it (easier said than done of course). HEY @@leppyleppy6210 , I'm working on this song now and starting with a beginner version. Of course I'm going to slow this down. Also as a goal with this is to get you to know what I did to learn it as well, and be able to apply this to songs you want to learn. Hi @@elizabethpeebles5265, so thankful for the kind words- it means a lot to me!! Also and in truth, all the credit goes to you for following through. Lots of people that want to play guitar don't want to spend the time it takes to play, and give up very easily. The people that end up sticking with the guitar endurance race are the one's that are still playing after many years. The secret is enjoying the process of learning, and also experiencing the thrill of being able to play something that you couldn't a few weeks ago- it all takes time and love! I became so obsessed with it all (way back when) that I was playing for 10-15 hours a day and just taking breaks to eat and sleep. Yea, that's my OCD that kicked in at an early age but, I wouldn't trade it in for the world. The best part for me is the friendships that I've made with the lessons here. Also, the joy of my students being able to play. After another long break in the action, it was so wonderful to hear from so many people that first took my lessons years ago and have moved onto greater plains. Many thanks to you for being a great student, and I'm certain we will be chatting for quite some time and talking about guitars!!

Sir, is this finger picking style is flexible to any songs
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons 3 жыл бұрын
Hey John, great to hear from you- this picking pattern can be used for any song that is in 4/4 time signature. It may however, not be stylistically appropriate for a particular song. If you let me know what song you want to apply this pattern to, I can let you know if it works? Thanks John, wishing you a great day! bob
