Hey @@123hgnrty , Blackbird is not good for plug and play simply because it's a unique melody that everyone knows., but I can show it to you and will do it for you. It's not beginner though (rather advanced) hope all is well and thanks Les..

Hey Ian, this concept is so important to me, as I know this is what's missing with a lot of the students here. If I can help get these points across and people would do them, I think they will start to develop better musicality. It's all a process really. Happy day today and I hope this helps!!

Thank you Bob. This is amazing!! I learn so much when I do your videos. Capo use is a bit daunting because I really know nothing about music and everything I have makes so complicated. It sits and collects dust, lol. Looking forward to a plug and play to use! So many songs that I try to figure out myself but this would make the process so much smoother. You are amazing!!

Hey Robert, great to hear from you and I'm glad to hear that the lessons are helping. It takes some work to put it all together, but there's some major advantages to this approach (which btw, I didn't make up). The main thing is becoming more musical in your approach to music, which is kind of strange to say because you would think that music is musical in the first place. I'm here if you need any help or have a question. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!! bob

HEy GW, I'm glad something here helps.. The idea is to work on one step at a time and get the melody down in your head. We are really going to need to know how that coordinates with the music because this is the part that stops many people dead in their tracks. Reason being, words tend to not land on the same beats as the guitar part we are playing.. so that's what all the foot tapping and singing is all about- trying to get your brain acclimated to the rhythm of the song.. I will delve into this more on the next video, but I'm really glad that you are going for it... Trust me, you will be so glad you did.

Hi Bob, its my Sunday morning just watched your latest video. steps to practice are great, fortunately my old hobby going back years is latin dance so some bits are already 2nd nature, you know John Denver music's a favourite. You mentioned chord shapes with different Capo positions, that would be great if you could send (by e mail, but guess everyone would like too). So maybe best on your web site. When offer'g patterns for songs requested I though thats gonna be a mountain's task. Then I'm thinking of your plug and play or is it the Fix pattern that youve been giving details of in the last clips? I've got a nice set of melody notes worked up for sunshine on my shoulder key of G of the 5th fret. Thanks ever so much for your ideas and hope your feeling better after your sadness & bout of melloncolia. Maybe a song title suggestion or something similar. Look forward to seeing the next installment in your videos. Cheers f now

Hello Bob, I am a great fan of yours and i would like to thank you for your great help for playing guitar in a rather easy way. What I would like too know is the following. There ar so many chords p.e. C7, Dsus2, Cmaj7, Am7 and i would like to understand were does it come from. Is there a logical structure behind it? Can you explain how they are build up? Te in advance. Regards.
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, this is a very complicated question because the names of chords can come from many different places. The simple answer is, there are 7 different types of chords (at least that's what I know, there may be more) and they are associated with music modes for each key. A major chord has 3 notes that's called a "Triad" or 1, 3, 5 (three notes to make a triad). A minor chord is a major chord with a flatted 3rd.. 1, 3-, 5. A 7th chord has a flatted 7th (or dominant 7th) , in the case of a C chord that would be a Bb note. Major 7th is adding the 7th note of that chord's scale to the chord which would be a B note... Okay,, I know,, I bet you might be lost already.. People spend their whole lives studying chord theory, go to music school to learn... but we have a choice here.. Do we want to spend time learning theory or playing guitar? I know, at some point it would be a good idea to know some of it, and I admit to studying a little about it. But I've played with many virtuoso players that couldn't tell me a thing about theory. I've also played with college music professors who teach theory and can't play very well. So I guess it all depends on how you think your time is better spent, learning about music or playing it. With that said, I am no expert at music theory and have trouble writing out tab charts. But the way I see it, I have memorized the chord positions. From my experience , knowing the names of some complex chords have only come in handy when playing with accomplished musicians who might throw a chart in front of me. I'll ask them, what's this Dmaj7thb5.. they will show me and I'll go.. okay, I know that chord, I just didn't know the name of it.. So for right now my best advice is to just go with the flow, and associate the name of the chord with the positions on the frets- in other words, learn the positions. I hope this helps!! Let me know okay..

Hi kiersofwar, great question and no, this is a first. I listen to the song and tap my foot. Then I get a metronome and try to match the tempo speed that my foot is tapping to and move the metronome to the approximate speed of my foot. There's also a feature in most DAW's (Digital Audio Workstations) that allow you to "tap tempo" the song (click the mouse alone with the beat of the song). That will also give you the approximate tempo. On regular sheet music, the tempo is often indicated in the upper left hand corner. I hope this helps and thank you for taking the lessons with me!! Happy weekend!! bob

Hey Michael, thanks for watching the videos and to answer your question, we are cheating!! ha ha.. If we know the chords to a song, we can simply plug in an appropriate fingerpicking pattern and play the song, not needing to painstakingly go through tab. That's where the sheet music comes in, as it tells us what the chords are! So of course, there's no such thing as one pattern fits all, and that's why I have put out the song requests. I will listen to the song, write out the chords (in for the requests) and pick a pattern to play a simplified version of that song. But let's say you want to learn a song without my help. You will need the chords to the song (the sheet music again or a lead sheet), the words of course, and then be able to decipher the measures- this is because we are gong to insert a pattern and need to know how many measures of the G chord for example, we are going to play. IN other words, we have to count out the measures. Next lesson I will go over how to do that, but in the meantime, it's important to at least be able to hum along with the song and be familiar with it.. you know, without your guitar which we will add later. I hope this helps a little, but the best demo will be the process in action- we will get to see that with the requests... over and over again.. so no worries.. you will get this!!

How do you play a waltz 3/4 song?
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons
@AcousticGuitarVideosLessons 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Larry, great to hear from you and thanks for taking the lesson here! So the waltz time is 3 downbeats per measure instead of 4 downbeat in 4/4 time... I think you already know that).. I have 2 songs that I show a really easy waltz time pattern that can be used in many songs. Here's a link to Amazing Grace: kzbin.info/aero/PLx1uwVXECJKhFuQ9BTslEl3I3_pWhNLhw. The other one is Silent Night which uses the same exact pattern as Amazing Grace. I hope this helps. You are also welcome to make a song request here. Thanks again and I'm here in case you need any help too. bob

Hi Viv, Larry has blues, folk, jazz and pop standards put to fingerstyle. The other CD he has is with another dear friend of mine named Flip Peters who is a great guitarist and a college music professor- beautiful record of all sorts of music. It's 4am here and I can't sleep.. happy mid morning to you!!
