I'm really envious about my best friend who possesses perfect pitch, yet he sometimes boasts that to me by instantly saying that certain note in a short period of time, I don't know why that makes me feel guilty😂, the way he showed off nearly made me stroke him😂

hahaha I don't have perfect pitch and I can play by ear... i have relative pitch though.. but i think anyone can do it, it all has to do with training your ear
@geraldedwards57625 жыл бұрын
@@oxitocyn with present technology I don't think you even have to have any musical training, aside from a few basic guidelines... I use an audio analyzer to capture humming, and it shows the frequency changes across time (I just choose the note frequency that is closest to the target across a horizontal time-line)- from there I can harmonize the notes in a variety of ways depending on the mood I wish to create. I have had no musical training, I cannot play any instrument at all and I certainly do no have either the gift of perfect pitch or relative pitch. I just have access to a DAW and some simple computer software. I do have some ebooks on music theory but much of the subject and terminology seems archaic - I have learned far more by simply experimenting than any thing else.

Awesome video! I would also suggest one more mini step "Find the *correct* key" at the end. If you're humming/whistling/singing the song purely from memory, it is likely you remember the melody correctly but you simply remember it in a different key. So actually listening to the original song will also give you the key the song was originally written for, which I think is handy if you want to really practice it later.

Depends. Some songs might not be written for your vocal range, and humming it in your vocal range means you’ll find the right key for you. But if it’s for someone else, that’s another issue, in which case definitely find the correct key.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been trained as a classical pianist for around 11 years (stopped exams at around RCM Grade 10).... And after all these years I hate the fact I can "only" play very advanced classical scores. But NOTHING else. If I don't have my "current" scores or if I have not memorized it, I can't play anything (except playing from some easier music by sight reading).... I have become very aware of this since I just started teaching and have since been looking at how to learn to improvise. I have seen a few videos about how to start on the black keys, but THIS....THIS is complete magic! (and at the same time so obvious). I think you just gave me huge hope that I can learn to improvise too!
