Dogs have lactoferrin in their saliva. Lactoferrin is a natural antibody that promotes healing when the dog licks an injury. Licking also helps keep the wound clean. Pain, to a healthy degree, can be beneficial in allowing an injured muscle or bone to rest and recover. I hope bears have similar protective mechanisms in their saliva too.

Why do dog have to wear cones after surgery or stitches to not kick wounds? I have heard their saliva does have healing properties, but I don’t understand why not allow them to lick then?

That dubbing of sound over animals annoys me as well. I have lots of experience with horses, and in TV shows and movies if someone rides a horse you'll always hear a horse conveniently neighing, especially in a full gallop. It's as if the audience is utterly stupid and needs the sound to recognise it as a horse... Horses don't neigh nearly as much as TV and movies makes them out to do. So yeah, I'm not surprised it happens with other animals on TV as well, though that never occured to me until Mike mentioned it!

Correct me if I'm wrong but 164 hasn't really been doing his trademark waterfall style fishing much this year.
