This is my favorite episode by you guys yet. Stunning visuals interlaced with your insight brings a unique perspective to this magical place. Coupled with your editing skills, this is a masterpiece. "That will not be the last time we lay eyes on the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes, mark my words" I was told by a good friend before my first trip to Alaska I'd "gotta go back". Oh was he so right! I've been back many times, and I'm beginning to finally realize it's Alaska that never leaves you. Simply beautiful episode, well done!

My husband and I are empty nesters. We have had the amazing fortune of living and working in a national park most of our adult lives and have raised our daughter there as well.We have now moved about 2 hours away to another amazing city. He is retired while I am now working for a major organization. Every time I watch your videos I question what I am doing.... I love that you have followed your dream through and am envious of it. We have been the envy of others as well because we lived out our dream most of our lives. Thank you for posting such beautiful videos and being honest about the journey.
@Chelsee_Red2 жыл бұрын
I have to give you guys a major props on this one. I showed this episode to my mom after I saw her watching the latest overdramatized grizzly series on Kodiak bears in Alaska via National Geographic. While their footage is amazing, it simply is not genuine. They make up a BS plot for the bears that is absolutely comical. I turned that off and showed my mom this video and she was blown away just as I was the first time I saw it. This is true, this is pure, this is special. Good for you guys.
@BoundForNowhere2 жыл бұрын
Wow, that is an incredible compliment thank you! Owen and I were watching Life on Earth (David Attenborough) and he is a big proponent for the use of narrative in documentary film making that is obviously in the wildlife space. We were discussing if we felt that narrative used in the way is successful or not, so I find it interesting that you think that it isn't genuine. I think it's a tool used to pull people into the setting and relate it back to us as humans. I tend to shy away from it as I feel it can be distracting from the interesting facts about these animals. In the end, we're just honored that you would turn to us for something of quality. It means a lot to us!

Oh my goodness! This is my dream! I have been watching the bear cams for 5 years now and must say you captured the essence of awe, beauty and wonder of Katmai I have only imagined it to be. The close ups of the littles and bigs, mamas and yearlings is always special on the bear cams but your story telling, coupled with the overwhelment of the moment made this extra special. Oh, The Land of 10, 000 Smokes!!!! Oh my goodness! The geology! Who knew….I have only seen images of a bus or truck that heads out that way…who knew how breathtaking it is! I cannot wait to go….It is on my bucket list…My sistah and I will one day stand on those bridges and experience the awe in person. Thank you for the creative gift of you two and sharing the gifts of amazing places. Be well, ll

I can't wait to go back either. There is still so much I want to do and see. I would like to go back later in the season to see them towards the end of the salmon run and get footage of how the bears look. I also know the way they eat later in the season is totally different and I'd love to see that. HA moral of the story is that you have to go, but just know once will not be enough ;)

I’ve watched this episode twice now, and even though I knew it was coming, I again cried with you on the plane, MAK. You need to include a trigger warning on episodes where you tear up just due to the sheer beauty of a place. 🥲 Also, the airport parking shuttle bus read “out of service”, making me think you had to convince the driver to let you get on, because you needed the shot for the vlog. 😄 Thank you, shuttle bus driver.
@BoundForNowhere2 жыл бұрын
HA. Sorry, I have a knack for injecting my emotions that no one asked for at random ;) And there was so no convincing the driver to stop there. We were worried while we were sitting there that no one would come because that sign was there. But turns out you just have to call the bus driver to tell them you are there rather than them just stopping by on a schedule which was why the sign was there

Fantastic!! I was sent the link from a friend of mine in Wisconsin. Really enjoyed it. Would love to see the bears one day. I too am an adventurer here in South Africa. Keep following your dreams - everything here is temporary and at the end of this earthly journey the only things that go with us are memories made (not things). Most people spend a lifetime to find true happiness and contentment - you’ve already arrived at such a young age! Happiness is found immersed in God’s creations, spending quality time with family and friends, and realizing that our short journey here is by no means the end or final destination! Live well and seek Him in all you do! Be blessed my friends!
