I have played for 60 years and hate keys with a 5th position with passion! 7th too!

Cool tip Paul! I haven't really thought too much about trying that, but I also haven't had to many opportunities to play awkward keys recently. Cool!

Hey Paul! Nice Tip! I have a question for you... In my 8th grade Jazz class, my Band teacher says soon we have a project where we have to choose a modern day or someone who has passed away that plays the instrument that I play and I play trombone, and I was thinking about you and Slide Hampton, but I'm might do both of you, but we have to imitate that persons solo and I watch your live streams and I know you play jazz really well.... And I was wondering if you can post you playing the jazz blues scales on Bb, F,C,or Ab so I can imitate you BC u play really well. Reply once you can. Love ur vids!

This is why I should’ve picked trombone over trumpet 😂 But hey, trumpet really makes you think about the notes (compared to piano for example)

I also wanted to play trombone due to its range, but we had an old trumpet laying around the house, but I wish I had the choice 😞

jermy you should be getting better little by little every day. You have to record yourself though to get an accurate representation when you listen back

Yes you want to get comfortable in all twelve keys equally but there is some value in knowing that this exists and implementing it. As Mozart used to say, "to master an instrument is to understand all its strengths and weakness's and to exploit them"

Similar to a guitarist using a capo. It can provide some insight into other keys, ultimately without the capo.
