Hey so you're tongue block playing right? From side or center? I'm getting it going with TB and playing melody out the left side but run into serious dry lips/mouth on my right side. And sometimes too much saliva on the other side inside the mouth!

I tongue block out of the right side of my mouth. If you don't sometimes lift your lips off the harmonica they will eventually dry out and stick to the harmonica. So work out places in the tune where you can take your mouth off the harmonica quickly, and maybe moistourise them a bit with your tongue. If there isn't a natural rest in a tune, find a note that isn't important to the melody where you can take that quick break. Producing saliva is normal but apparently tongue blocking produces more. Saliva shouldn't be a problem if you're not blowing it out and choking the reeds so it helps to keep your head back a bit and let it pool in your mouth. It can be an uncomfortable feeling when saliva builds in your mouth. I try to get used to that feeling and not let it distract me, and swallow when I get the chance. Some people think keeping your mouth rinsed with water also helps. And don't forget to tap out saliva from your harp between tunes.
