So sorry for your loss - it is a beautiful tribute. My guitar teacher was a Neil Diamond tribute act played it and sang it to me. I broke down sobbing in his shop and did not care. The words and the tune are soulful.

I fell head over heels in love with Neil diamond at the age of 12 years old. I understood where he was coming from in his music and I wrote him a letter back in 1976. I took a chance and posted it to a fan club and 2 months later I got a personal autographed photo and letter back from him. Telling me how he started out with the song " I'm a believer". That's when I sold my piano for a guitar and taught myself to play guitar in 6 weeks. I sent him a demo home recording tape, singing I'm a believer with my brother backing vocals with me. 3+ months later I received an album that was autographed again by Neil diamond. The album was " Hot August night" 1972. I was over the moon about it. Neil and I kept up our contact for many years after that. Once a year we would send each other voice recordings on tape telling each other what happened through out the year. However as life changed my contact with Neil grew less and less. But I will never forget him nor his music. Today I am 60 years old and now my children who are between 37, 35 and 27. Listen to that same Hot August night I kept for all these years. ❤

This is too one of my #1 favorites of Neil Diamond. One of the best times traveling with my late wife of 28 years. Music is a powerful way of expressing our emotions. And this one became our song together. I lost her in 2013. Now 6 years later I still listen to this masterpiece when I think I’m strong and can make it through to the end but I find myself rocked to my knees in pain and tears wanting those times when we both listen to it together. She was definitely my soulmate. My best friend. I do find some peace and tranquility when I listen to Play Me even though it’s tough Our only son who is now 17 remembers his mother’s love of this song and shares the same appreciation for great artists like Neil Diamond has master the acoustic guitar version of this great masterpiece. Who I am so thankful to God Almighty for blessing me with such a great son who I now live for each day. God bless you Neil Diamond. Your a fantastic artist
