@@SoonVirus you see, if you take a break for like 2-5 days, you won't lose any of your skill, if you start playing again after those breaks, you probably only need to warmup a bit then you can play comfortably like before. If you take a break for 2-3 weeks and you came back, you probably need a few days to regain your peak performance.

@fredtrentini67914 жыл бұрын
@@SoonVirus You don't really "lose skill" for taking a break at all, It's completely normal to play worse than you were doing a few days ago, specially on first maps of the day because you're not warmed up, after all we have highs and lows. I believe you are too wooried about losing skill over breaks and should just chill and take your time when feeling like taking a break. If you want real cases of players in order to believe it, here you go: - Poon didn't play for one month (probably just chilling and not in the mood to play) and got his first 700 right after he came back. - Cookiezi didn't play this game for 2 YEARS (2013-2015) and was still on shape when he came back, he simply kept improving from where he stopped as if there was no break.

This is SO TRUE. I made a decision that I wanted improve my stamina and precision. I carefully picked maps that would almost exceed my stamina and precision limit, and after two or three days of playing and practicing, I got a new topplay. And that is really surprising, because I HAVEN'T GOT A TOP PLAY IN A YEAR. To be honest, I was one of those people who had the *genetics* thoughts. But now, I believe that I can accomplish so much more. Also, thank you for making this video Spazza17, it helps spread the message. Don't just play more, play smart. At least that's how I see it.

I have a neuromuscular disease (makes my nerves and muscles very weak, sometimes randomly twitching and getting muscle strains/cramps very often) and at first i played osu as a way to "cure" this. I started playing taiko with no hopes of getting good because i thought i didnt have the ability. Over the time i started realizing that playing for fun and taking a smart approach to improving at the same time was still possible despite my illness. if i put enough effort. Later i got to a 1,3k rank in taiko. I couldnt believe it happened and i really wanted to give up many, many times and i was becoming very desperate by each month. So dont give up, just play for fun and play smart. You can do it! ( edit: i recently switched to mania and its going well there too)

Some tip in sort new comment: Tip 1. Stop farming sotarks 0:30 or 1:28 maps. Tip 2. Start farming tech maps. Tip 3. Don't farm maps that you can't finish to atleast 93% Accuracy (Unless you want a C or B in your top plays.) Tip 4. (optional) leave the game for months and go back to derust then repeat. The reason play more is the best advice you can give someone is because you incentivise more experimentation on their part. And the reason that's so important is that everyone has their own way of enjoying and or improving at the game. So when that player finally finds their way of playing the game they'll never have to ask anyone for help again. Empathy is underrated.

I wanted to do a post on Reddit about my progression because I wanted some advices or tips, and someone told me I should play between 100 and 200 hours a month. But when I check profiles randomly in the 4 digits, most people play around 200-250 hours a year. Like me. And of course, no one told me anything I asked for, like tips or advices. I said I got 200 hours playtime now, and almost 1 year since I started, and that it was my very first rhythm game, so I wanted to have a check, on if it was ok or not. This community is so toxic towards people that have "not enough" playtime that's insane.

I’ve been playing for two and a half years and I am quite the deranker as I am still a 6 digit. For a few months I was obsessed with pp, and frustrated that everyone is playing dthd to farm, when I don’t like it, but I had a hard time farming with any other mod. It got me so mad that I nearly stopped playing, but then I thought I was just being stupid, to the point where I had forgotten one of my favourite players’ request: “plz enjoy game”. Today I don’t care about pp, I am probably one of the strongest 6 digits in the world as I can clear several 8 star maps and fc 6 stars XD and I enjoy the game :) great video !

@@BigDBrian Keep playing is an advice that doesn't imply you aren't playing enough in the present. the 8 hours a day person likely needs to play less, but this is a better advice than play more(which leads the 8 hour a day person to a 10, then 12 hours a day person)
@acborgia13444 жыл бұрын
Play More is actually the answer most of the time, each time there's one of these "I play 8 hours a day" dude I check their profile and... Surprise, they don't, they have less than 3k playcount during the month usually, and it's very likely it's not only 5 min maps without retrying, so it's probably only around 3 or 4 hours of pure gameplay a day Also "focusing on your weaknesses" is something every player says, but I really felt way more improvement by focusing on my strength because the rest of the skillset follows I think that each player has their own optimal way to improve and they need to discover it, if they want to play 30 sec maps HDDT with 85% acc and they manage to get 4 digit this way, so be it, they actually got pretty good at what they do to get there, and there are quite a few players in the top 1000 with shit accuracy to be honest Playing more is this one constant that will never change, you get better by practicing and there's no way around it, only better practice
@fasihh60274 жыл бұрын
I pretty much share this mentality. Many people who see people with like HDDT harumachi clover 400pp or somethin, they call that (let's suppose) 4 digit a gay farmer and whatnot. In reality the guy who is calling that 4 digit gay farmer prolly can't even fc that nomod or whatever. This is obviously not always true but it's one scenario i imagined. This makes me believe that you can actually get good anyway in the game as long as you are dedicated to it and are having fun.

growth to also seeing improving takes time, to many deff need the basics as the *accent man said* all started on 1 star maps remember that. FUN should be key no matter what to a general should get out you're comfort zone in this case play with HD, HR or DT (even FL or something) but lower diff then you're average but a certain time for adding mods into the mix And hey Mcosu is a thing if you want to "train" in higher AR, BGM, HP drain etc. listen to the accent man! the skin isn't key ether but yea *insert DT skin from whitecat, rafis etc that surely ain't the same skin* is good for DT but skins, tablet area, Mouse Vs tablet is all preference. more then just standard too btw ppy just ain't make the fan game of elite beat agent for you to only play that 1 mode ya nerd! each got their own pros, cons to yea no many can read 9K (nine key) but add some variety this is a VIDEO GAME.

Hello, figured i'd give it a run publicly on youtube then! I am Rank - 14k, I play 3-5 minute maps majority of the time either No Mod or HDHR or HD. I would say my best trait as an osu player I may have is my aim and accuracy. I've been playing osu for a good 2 years maybe, and I really lack in the speed department such as 190 bpm is a struggle and even 180 at times. So i'm asking how does one begin training speed or is it I may have posture, equipment, desk/chair issues instead? I do not know, for a good while now I have tried on my own for an hour or two a day work on speed and try to develop myself but to little result I found none. So now i'm doing just like Spazza said in his video to type to a streamer, but i'll do it here instead. I'm asking for your help or any minor things I could be doing wrong, I have finally given up and seeking guidance. Thank you and have a good day!
@BigDBrian3 жыл бұрын
I know it's 7 months down the line but there are some good resources specifically for training speed/stamina. I want to link them directly but youtube might detect me as spam and hide my comment. osu! | How to Improve Stamina/Speed by Spare [osu!] Speed, stamina and accuracy by Kyori 『osu!』Ryuk on Building Stamina, Finger Control by VividSky They're not 100% in agreement with each other but you should be able to take advice and get the general idea of what's right for you. The TL;DR is you want to find a comfortable hand position for yourself, be healthy and practice in a bpm range 10-20 above your current target. So if you can comfortably stream 160bpm you should play 180-190bpm maps that have various stream lengths after warming up. You can use stream practice maps or [1025] as a benchmark but not your main practice tool.

correct. osu! is almost entirely a mindset game. without proper mindset and motivation you will never get anywhere no matter how much you "play more" i say this as 1k hours low 5 digit because my mindset and motivation is dogshit. there are 3 and 2 digits with less or equal playtime to me and i think its entirely due to this. why would i have the will and push to improve like a top player if i just get angry and sick of the game after not hitting some arbitrary dopamine FC or goal or just "play for fun" and dont gather anywhere near efficient playtime and smart practice.

I am 11k after 360ish hours. When I play Osu I try not to focus on raw improvement, and I spend 75% or more of the time farming, the other time spent working on stamina. I rarely think about improving my aim, but it just naturally gets better the more I play. I think that once you realize you aren’t improving, you get frustrated and stunt growth even more. I play for pp mostly, not improvement, and I improve faster than most people. Getting better is way too complicated to even comprehend.
