This video is misleading for anyone with super slime model of PS3. At the beginning he state it works for every model, but at the middle of the video he state that Super Slim wont play PSP games and at the very end he goes saying Super Slim won't be playing PS2 either! I was literally doing this for hours to play PS2 but man what a load of BS of wasting my time. I already have Vita so PS2 was the only thing i wanted to work

Old post, I know.... I'm sure I read somewhere that the original playstation had the PS2 chip In it, to make it backwards compatible with PS2, but not later ones. I'd imagine you'd need the original mk1 playstation to play PS2 games properly.

I'm using HEN on my ps3 slim 3000 series and I already have multiman, managunz and file manager so I downloaded the Europe region ps2 iso games because I'm from Australia and I did everything this video told me to do but the ps2 iso wouldn't format into a disc, it said the ps3 isn't compatible with the ps2 on the home screen when I press "x" on the unsupported data and on managunz it said "you are not using a ps2 configuration file '*CONFIG'. somebody please give me hints on what I did wrong.

They don't work out of the box on PS3's that aren't backwards compatible. On my superslim on 4.90 fw, I installed HFW/PS3Hen, Multiman and Webman, not Managunz, fwiw. In order to get them to work, you need to encrypt them using PS2 Classics Manager (or Apollo Save Tool works as well I think, but I used the former), and then use PS2 Classics Placeholder to launch them. Put your game iso's in PS2ISO, create and assign two PS2 memory cards named MC1 & MC2 in "Memory Card Utility" (only needs to be done once), load up PS2 Classics Manager, find the iso in the PS2 Game List, click on Triangle for the extended menu and then click on "Encrypt PS2 .ISO / .BIN". You can then delete the unencrypted ISO, it's no longer needed. Once you have your games encrypted, they'll show up in Webman Games under PS2 Games (may need to refresh the games list within Webman settings and reload XMB first). Click on the game you want to play, and it will be loaded to the PS2 Classics Placeholder. Click on that to launch the game.

Hello sir! Great video i got almost every step & make it work! I got one question I transfered the game "black" in iso type on the ps2iso folder and my ps3 successfully reads it , downloads all the covers and stuff but when i try to play it is not running and i got the message unsupported disc with a question mark ❓ on the ps3 menu Is there a way i can fix it & play? Didn't work for me on ps3 HEN, the only way to play ps2 games on Ps3 HEN is to convert them into PKS's, if you have a ps3 on CFW then you run can ps2 ISO's

With ps2 and ps1 games. Can you just create a folder inside PS2ISO titled say manhunt and put all the iso files into that folder. Or do i have to turn it into bin and cue files. Also with bin and cue files do i create a folder in PS2ISO and put both files in the folder whilst making sure the file names of both are the same.

Hi there, im running ps3hen 3.0.3 on a slim model. When i try to run psx games, it goes incredibly well, but when i mount a ps2 game from managunz, it says "unsupported data" in the xmb menu. Is there a way i can fix this? Also when i try to go to managunz settings or game options in managunz, it shows a never ending black screen. Im also not sure how i can fix this.

hey Blaine, this question, is regarding you freemcboot tutorials. I have a ps2 iso on my usb, and want to run it via opl. However, opl will not recognise my usb or show the game in my folder. Also, when I’m in a program on freemcboot, how do I get out of it so I can get back to my ps2 menu. I can only do this, by resetting my ps2 which is quite annoying.

That's a very valuable and sought after PS3 you have there. Nice! So, even with one of the backwards compatible PS3s, to play PS3 backups, you'll need to either install customer firmware - a jailbreak (recommended) - or PS3HEN to play PS2 games from USB. But yes, it can absolutely do jus that once you've modded that system.

Super Slim models and other HEN enabled models can play PS2 games when converted to PKG format. PS2 ISO games won't be recognized.

You don't need WebMan considering that he uses it to see his PS3's local IP, you can achieve this by going in the settings tab on MultiMan and then going to system information. Hope this helped

Hen is hybrid firmware, I think, different than custom firmware. You should still be able to play PS2 games on non-backwards compatible PS3 models that use HEN. They don't work out of the box on PS3's that aren't backwards compatible though. On my superslim on 4.90 fw, I have installed HFW/PS3Hen, Multiman and Webman, not Managunz, fwiw. I had been dying for it as well, not wanting to hook up yet another system to play them. It's great getting to play them in 720p on PS3. Hope you can get it working. Assuming you've done the same: In order to get PS2 games to work, you need to encrypt them using PS2 Classics Manager (or Apollo Save Tool works as well I think, but I used the former), and then use PS2 Classics Placeholder to launch them.
