This video is misleading for anyone with super slime model of PS3. At the beginning he state it works for every model, but at the middle of the video he state that Super Slim wont play PSP games and at the very end he goes saying Super Slim won't be playing PS2 either! They don't work out of the box on PS3's that aren't backwards compatible. On my superslim on 4.90 fw, I installed HFW/PS3Hen, Multiman and Webman, not Managunz, fwiw. In order to get them to work, you need to encrypt them using PS2 Classics Manager (or Apollo Save Tool works as well I think, but I used the former), and then use PS2 Classics Placeholder to launch them. Put your game iso's in PS2ISO, create and assign two PS2 memory cards named MC1 & MC2 in "Memory Card Utility" (only needs to be done once), load up PS2 Classics Manager, find the iso in the PS2 Game List, click on Triangle for the extended menu and then click on "Encrypt PS2 .ISO / .BIN". You can then delete the unencrypted ISO, it's no longer needed. Once you have your games encrypted, they'll show up in Webman Games under PS2 Games (may need to refresh the games list within Webman settings and reload XMB first). Click on the game you want to play, and it will be loaded to the PS2 Classics Placeholder. Click on that to launch the game.

With ps2 and ps1 games. Can you just create a folder inside PS2ISO titled say manhunt and put all the iso files into that folder. Or do i have to turn it into bin and cue files. Also with bin and cue files do i create a folder in PS2ISO and put both files in the folder whilst making sure the file names of both are the same.

Hen is hybrid firmware, I think, different than custom firmware. You should still be able to play PS2 games on non-backwards compatible PS3 models that use HEN. They don't work out of the box on PS3's that aren't backwards compatible though. On my superslim on 4.90 fw, I have installed HFW/PS3Hen, Multiman and Webman, not Managunz, fwiw. I had been dying for it as well, not wanting to hook up yet another system to play them. It's great getting to play them in 720p on PS3. Hope you can get it working. Assuming you've done the same: In order to get PS2 games to work, you need to encrypt them using PS2 Classics Manager (or Apollo Save Tool works as well I think, but I used the former), and then use PS2 Classics Placeholder to launch them. That's a very valuable and sought after PS3 you have there. Nice! So, even with one of the backwards compatible PS3s, to play PS3 backups, you'll need to either install customer firmware - a jailbreak (recommended) - or PS3HEN to play PS2 games from USB. But yes, it can absolutely do jus that once you've modded that system.

@@beansoup1088 I think you meant to say PS3. Anyway, yes you can play PS2 ISOs off of USB with a backwards compatible model. Place your PS2 ISOs in the folder titled PS2ISO on your flash drive. Use either Multiman or Webman to boot your ISO. Then select the PlayStation 2 disc icon on your XMB and your ready to go.

They must be from the hard drive and you can either run them as an ISO or as a package file. If you want to save progress (obviously u do) then I recommend installing as a package file. When you run ps2 games as an iso you must have a memory card setup. And at least for me that’s been difficult getting to work. With a package file each game saves individually like how a Super Nintendo game saves through through the cartridge. However transferring vme saves can be next to impossible in some cases. So it’s all preference. If you can get the ps2 memory card setup and working properly then iso is the way to go. If it isn’t showing up when trying to save then package file is the route to go
