You always make a point to know the name of different openings and I often wondered Why? Naturally I guess different openings require different responses, but if your game is tidy and correct there shouldn't be much difference in the outcome, I thought. Or there is? I enjoy immensely every lessons, your skill, patience and clarity of expression. Your lessons for me, are source of real pleasure and amaze. Even if I will never be a great player (I know my limitations) my game has now improved enormously thanks to your teaching. It was my lucky day when I stumbled to your site, now subscribed. Thank you.

I don't understand. This is a transposition of a line that can arise from the Rossolimo variation: 2...Nc6 3.Bb5 d6 4.d4 cxd4 5.Qxd4 Bd7 6.Bxc6. I don't see that it has any independent value. It is, properly speaking, a variation of the Rossolimo. Black, however, rarely plays 3..d6 after having played 2..Nc6.

@mercantilistwhomper51805 жыл бұрын
While I do love this variation and play it frequently, black can seriously fuck up white's tempo after the first queen takes the D4 pawn by moving his a7 pawn to a6. now the bishop wont be there to stop the knight challenging the queen. I feel like this should have been addressed in the video.

what if black plays e5 instead of nc6 and chases the queen from d4? isn't the queen on the run from there?
@sleepy4x8 жыл бұрын
He can do that, but he gets a weak pawn on d6 and a weak d5 square. There are Sicilian Variations where e5 works, but here it is not so good. White can still play c4 and the weeknesses of black remain.

God, I hate playing against this variation with a passion, probably more than the c3 or closed Sicilians as a sideline. The key for playing as Black is to keep White from trading his King Bishop for your Queen Knight, since this piece is usually either a target sitting on c4/b3, or blocks the rooks on f1/e2/d3, you want to keep it on the board for now. Instead of 4....Nc6 allowing 5. Bb5, try 4....a6. The Queen will wait, you can kick it next move. The usual result is that you gain a tempo as a result of the Queen moves, and the Knight is on f3 blocking the f-pawn instead of d4, so another tempo has to be spent to re-position it. So if White tries to play like a traditional Sicilian, Black will have a couple of tempi. You have to know what to do in a hedgehog, though, since 5.c4 is a possibility. You can play avoid this by playing Nf6 on the third move before the capture, when White should play Nc3 in response, although weird moves like e5?! are possible here so you have to know what to do against that.
@chessmaster96387 жыл бұрын
The plan with white is than Be3 and after Nc6 Qd2. You win a couple of tempos in the game with this manouvre but i play this a6-variation too with black. Its for 2 sides a nice aggressive game.
