You guys just keep making better and better content. The chemistry between you is awesome, perfect amount of chat against shots with great pace of footage. I could watch this for hours. What I love about this video is that Mattys wedges set up is pretty much identical to mine, 50/10, 56/11 and 60/08. Pretty much covers all bases and make me feel confident with my wedges. The zipcores look awesome and I'm defo gonna buy them in the new year, just wish there was fitting availability like this in the UK but with your input I'm happy to just buy the specs from the rack. Thanks guys. Massive fan.

Have always been told I'm a digger. I bought two sets of SM8s this year, one with 54.10S and 58.12D for wetter conditions and one with 54.12D and 58.8M. Much prefer the 2nd set. The lower bounce on the 58 gives me a lot more options and I finally feel I can clip the ball off the turf if I need to. Most everything else is done with 54.

I'm sitting with a nice versatile set up of SM8 wedges. 50.08F set at 51.09F 54.10S set at 55.11S 60.08M Considering the new T grind from vokey to replace the 60, as the low bounce option in the 60 is quite useful and necessary. The T grind comes with 6 degrees of bounce.

Great assortment of lofts and bounce testing. The out of the rough shortish shot was a good one. I've been moving away from my 60 to my 54 for those shots due to how the ball rides up the face even with 10 degrees of bounce on my 60. Interesting to hear that it's more a preferred lower loft shot. Good video. Need more of the outside stuff. Maybe something about how to hit approach shots off specific lies and how to select the club for the shot and why bounce on irons can be useful depending on the swing type and angle of attack of the individual.

This was a great video. For me when I first putting my set together I had no idea what bounce or grinds were. This cleared up lot of questions I had. Makes me think of my own setup and how I can change it to help me out. I play the 718 AP1's Pitching wedge is 43 degrees the set also came with a 48 degree wedge is it worth it for me to carry a gap wedge or should I lose the 52 and free up that spot for another hybrid.
@adavis84234 жыл бұрын
I only carry two wedges (not including pw) in my bag 50-10 130yrds and 56-08 100yrds. A fitting like this would really help fill in the gaps!
@hildashubby4 жыл бұрын
Grinds and bounce are what confuses the hell out of me, thank you for explaining it, boys. My question for the professional fitters and I know it is impossible to fit someone over an internet conversation. My PW is an ap1 714, standard 44 degrees, full shot from100 to 115 yards, the PW is arguably the most reliable club I have on my bag, as well as the most consistent, I fell really comfortable with that club on my hands, my other wedge set up is then a 48, from 90 to 105 yards, 52, from 70 to 85 yards and 56, from 50 to 68 yards. I have a heck of a hard time opening the face to hit flop shot and bunker shots, as well as any shots shorter than 50 yards, I have been thinking on getting a 60 or 62 to help me mostly with the bunkers and those greenside rough shots, as well as some of those, I am a digger on the full shots and a topper on the short shot, what on your opinion could I use as far as loft and bounce to help me improve my wedges and around the green shots? I am a high handicapper, so I can use all of the help in the world.
@lawrencebogar61364 жыл бұрын
I have the same set up (for two more weeks) I I added the 60 degree and it worked well.
@phillipallen61694 жыл бұрын
I'd be interested in a discussion of shafts, particularly for people with slower swing speeds like me. I have been tinkering with some of my wedges. I recently got 46 degree P wedge with an S200 shaft. The shaft is much heavier than my other P-wedge which was part of my iron set. I like the heavier shaft and feel like a get a little more help out of the chunky stuff. I think the choice has improved my stopping power around the greens. I also like it for more of the green side chip and pitch shots where I am trying to use lower lofted clubs which I think are better for distance control. I'd like your take on the kinds of shaft options available for the slower swingers.

Great video. Comprehensive and very informative. Thanks. One question is that my clubs are 2 inches longer should I keep this 2 inches difference in my wedges? Does this throw off the balance too much. I like it on my 9 and W irons.

probably the best explaination of bounce and loft for wedges i've seen on youtube, great work as usual Ian & Matt. Personally running vokeys 50.08F, 56.10M and 60.08M and i'm not sure if it gets any better. Maybe for next time talk about what else you can do with grinds on the 60 degree. I've been considering the cobra with the tri bounce for the 60 or maybe even the PM grind from callaway, possibly just for the ability to open the face allllll the way for the very short sided situations also is Matt still working with Larry on his swing?

Awesome video! What can a person do if they don’t have anyone close by that can go through this extensive of a fitting? Only options here are indoors on artificial turf. Can get really expensive just guessing what the best options are.
@claytonpetree5274 жыл бұрын
I would love a fitting like this someday. Been hitting my 47* PW, 54* SW, 60* LOB for a long time. However, since I hit the 60* LW extremely high and an average of 119.5m (130y) on trackman, you can imagine the stupid gaps I have going from the 60 to the 54 then to the 47 or 48 PW. I, unfortunately, have to go with fittings done indoor on a trackman with standard "wedge" shafts. Thinking 64/58/53/48 might be a sweet set of gaps to me, all with S400 or shafts matching the irons might be the way to go. I am definitely a high bounce fan, playing mostly near Vancouver BC and in Norway Unfortunately, this C19 BS has really put a damper on my golf and travel for now :(

How important is the shaft in a wedge? Most discussion about wedges have to do with loft and bounce. Do the wedge shafts get a "fitting" like in other irons? They touch on it at the end (mostly the weight of the shaft), but I was curious if I should stick with wedge specific shafts when purchasing? Thanks for the great content.
