Love it! Dude, keep them coming...cool riff indeed. 30 min workout 5 min drunken spider 2 min badass blues riff You have me at the top of my game, Eddie and GMM. After 35 years I actually think I don’t suck too bad and might even have finally become a decent player. Really can’t thank you enough for these amazing lessons. I love playing more than ever!

I have had a guitar in my life (off and on) for 40 years. I always got frustrated trying to push past just strumming old Dylan songs. I joined the GMM VIP club a couple months ago and this time, it looks like I'm getting real results! I'm 63 now and playing in a band is on my bucket list!

Love this lesson. It has a multiplicity of benefits. One suggestion. How about a short discussion of the different notes that comprise the major and minor pentatonic scales. Which notes they share and which ones they don’t. I believe it will provide some additional context and enhance understanding of their potential usage.

I actually learned something similar decades back. Michael Schenker has a song called "Captain Nemo" (off his 1983 "Built To Destroy" album) that is super-close but a little more... "hoppy" and has some descending runs. Of course, Schenker has a long history of combining neo-classical, blues and classic rock in his rhythms and solos. Very cool. Stay safe everyone. Cheers.

I think it was Keith Richards that once said something like "you can't play rock & roll if you don't understand the blues". I love blues, and any form of music that has bluesy motif riffs in it.

The major pentatonic scale is the most played scale pattern for 12 bar blues and rock. The 1 4 5 is the essence of modern blues. It's use over the last 120 yrs has influenced the direction of modern music. Robert Johnson is said to be the father of this modern format. He has been accused of selling his soul to Satin for his ability to play. His story is short and sad but at the same time truly amazing. When I first started playing guitar the pentatonic scale opened that so called door. I then began to slightly understand basic musical theory. The pentatonic major scale was the number one reason I still play today.
