I think they'll add the MBT-80, The FV4601 MBT-80 was a British experimental third-generation main battle tank, designed in the late 1970s to replace the Chieftain tank. It was eventually (and later controversially) cancelled in favor of the Challenger 1, itself an evolution of the Chieftain design. For anyone thinking that they would add the Challenger 1, it's extremely unlikely, unless they wanted to add the T-80, M1 Abrams, Leopard 2, etc. then again, this would completely change the meta of war Thunder, adding more modern jets, lock on missiles, more powerful ground attackers, adding these tanks to war thunder could be a very amazing experience for Gajin and its audience.

The thing is the chieftain does what it was designed to do perfectly. It’s a defensive tank it sits somewhere and stops anything from coming it’s way. That’s how it was planned. This unfortunately doesn’t fit to the meta of the game at the moment as it’s all about mobility. There’s really nothing you could add mbt wise for the British, we used the chieftain until the challenger and that can’t be added it would be op! They could add the chieftain 8/900 maybe but it still wouldn’t be mobile like the rest.

I think finding a 9.0 british tank would be very difficult since the next developed mbt in line is the mid 80s challenger tank. For that to be introduced we would need tanks such as the leo 2 in the game aswell. Those wouldn’t be 9.0 tanks either, I find that would be 10.0 already

The reload isnt effected by crew skills because they have autoloaders. And British Chieftain just needs its mobility fixed - it looses too much momentum currently for turning.

I made a post about ideas for top tier tanks on the forums. My Idea was to make Britain a bit unique in that it has several specialised vehicles rather than an all in one. There's the Chieftain to dig in and hold spots, or to act as the "sniper", So I think they should add the "Scorpion tank" as the pushing force. It has the same chassis as the Striker, so small, no armour but good speed and manoeuvrability (it actually holds the record for fastest production tank at 82.23 km/h or 51.10 mph). There where 2 notable versions. The main version only fired HESH, smoke and canister (would be a cool addition in place of HE for taking out lightly armed vehicles), then the upgraded "Scorpion 90" could fire a range of shells from HEFSDS to HEAT to HESH making it ideal either as an upgrade or later variant in the tech tree. Maybe for the 9.0 BR the british deploy their MBT-80 prototype...the high ranks timeline now is around the second half of '70s, where the RISE variant of M60 was introduced in the 1975-77 after the AOS upgrade. The Challenger came after the concept of MBT-80, a plausible choise of HR british tank

T-64 VERY effective when enemy team lost their first TOP wave, and roll out, for example, Leopards. They just disappear in sight barely scratching your armour with HEATs or APDS. Got 11 Leopards in a row defending A on Rhein.

British top tier Chieftain 900 (prototype Challenger I). Double the HP as the Chieftain Mk. 5 (1200HP). APFSDS. Composite armour not only on the turret, but also the hull (still the same weak lower hull though, I think). And most importantly: fast. It'd be a very good top tier, but probably kinda OP. I think it's faster than the T64 with possibly better armour and also a better gun (but no autoloader).

After Chieftain Mk.10, the British only have the Challenger 1. Maybe the Chieftain 900, which have Chobham armor, new drive train and new fire control system. A testbed prototype for the Challenger 1. None of the British tanks are fast even if we consider current British tanks like the Challenger 2. But Chobham armor is a massive upgrade in protection compared to previous generation of tanks. The top tier tanks for British might be the Chieftain 900, which is still slow but even better armored. The French AMX-30 and Italian OF-40. The OF-40 is kind of ahead of the rest of the tanks in terms of time period, but it can probably be squeezed in since its not outrageously too modern by comparison. If we include Challenger 1, such an update will introduce a lot of other tanks in other countries. Early versions of the Leopard 2 have already entered service. The M1 Abrams, T-72 and T-80 are also in service by then. Japan, would probably have the TK-X MBT, prototype for the Type 90. The French top tiers would be the AMX-30 and the AMX-40. Italy will probably have the OF-40 as top tier in this scenario. I really do think they will have to introduce the eventual update of the modern MBTs, because Italy have nothing(maybe prototypes) until the OF-40 in the late 70s to early 80s. This will force other nations to get their game stepped up. But as I mentioned earlier. After that, the only remaining vehicles are stuff we use today.

Chally 2 is one of the fastest tanks offroad ... yes the topspeed onroad isn t that great compared to other tanks like the Leo 2 but offroad is all that counts and don t forget CR2 also has a hydropneumatic suspension.

Compared to the MBT-70 / Kpz-70, the T-64 has 1) A faster reload (after MBT/Kpz nerf), 2) Better armor, 3) A top speed just slightly slower, and 4) The ability to practically aim and shoot due to MBT-70's / Kpz-70's laughable armor. Can anyone explain to me how that is at all balanced or fair? Especially for the Germans who often get stuck playing alone without another faction to help balance out their weaknesses?

DeadlyRecon MBT is still more mobile (remember, mobility is not just the top speed) got ATGM and with APDSFS it can still go through T-64 UFP. Since mobility is what matters in WT, together with great gun MBT is still a top dog.

I'd rather face the mbt all day long in my type 74 than this annoying fuck. I can pen a kpz no problem, but with the t-64 I either go for lower plate, or just below the barrel. Kpzs are just way easier to kill and face against, even with their supposed mobility.

I would pick MBT for a few reasons It has a fast top speed so you always get into the action before the whole enemy team is dead It's an American tank meaning if you die you still have tanks like the T95 or the T95E1 (can you tell I like the T95s?) You also have one problem that all but the KPZ will have, the unicorn will get ya from the top
