I have one in Lake Placid Blue and LOVE it! That said, I did do a very thorough setup and eventually upgraded everything except the body and the neck. I really like building my and morning guitars, so the upgrades weren’t needed as much as just something I decided to do over a period of bc a few months. It now has a perfectly floated trem, with a big brass block, Highwood saddles, locking Gotoh tuners, a fully loaded Fender Texas Special 3 ply guard e we it’s full sized 250K pots and upgraded caps, cloth covered wiring, etc. I also fully shielded all the cavities. It plays as n f d b d s kinds spectacular.

I have one of earlier 2012 versions. I think they were specced out a bit better back then with a rosewood fretboard & alder body. Looks nice though. Thanks for the review!

You're quite right, I have a 2010 ( along with several other CV 60's and 50's ) and the body tonewood is indeed alder and the fingerboard rosewood... I'm a bit surprised that they used nato on these new series... The overall tone is a bit darker...

My son got his first Squier stratocaster metallic red 25 years ago, still in fabulous condition. Plays today as well as years ago. Will never let this guitar leave the family.

the classic vibe series is relatively new. old squier guitars were really not that good.

I have the same one and my setup was perfect. I have upgraded the electronics to full size CTS pots and Switchcraft switch and put in Tonerider City Limit Pickups. It’s a fantastic guitar .

my friend, your channel is very good! It's one of the best on KZbin, very clear, straight to the point, without beating around the bush, the topics are very well covered... congratulations! do an analysis of the "Fender American vintage II 1961 Stratocaster" big hug

I bought this exact same guitar in April and your assessment aligns very much with my experience. I made same exact setup tweaks.

I own this red 60s CV and a 50s CV in Sherwood Green. I do prefer the maple fingerboard of the 50s. But they both play and sound as good as my 2004 American Deluxe Ash,,,,,which was 6x the money !!!!

It’s actually a bone but, not synthetic bone. Put Fender Pure Vintage 61 pickups in my three tone burst CV. Great guitar for sure!

I'd probably still wanna get a player strat instead, given that they are often in the upper 600 range these days. But I respect squier for making such funky variations of strats, they are gorgeous.
@palevas6 ай бұрын
When I look at squier cv, I would rather buy player. When I look at player, I would rather player plus. When I listen to player plus, I would rather am perf. So good job by Fender, but still didn't buy any of those.

I've got a pro 2 Dark Knight sss. My pal has a classic vibe he bought second hand off facebook market place for £200 about 4 year ago, black with maple fingerboard. He bought an American loaded pick guard for it 57/62's. A gotoh trem and tuners, cost him less than £600. It looks amazing, feels amazing to play and I actually prefer the sound of it to my pro 2. I'd put it on a par with my pro 2. I'd say moding a CV is the best bang for your buck strat you can have. Thinking about doing one myself to this CV in candy apple red.
@onionheadguy70944 ай бұрын
@@derekjohnson5720 I see the appeal in that but I don't care much for modding myself. Btw not only are squiers great mod projects they are just plain good guitars, I don't fault anyone for owning one, I have one and I'll never get rid of it.

I have an 04 deluxe strat, a warmoth built and owned 2 other american strats in the early 2000s. The CV is my go to. Mine is the 3tsb nyatoh version. The guitar is light and resonant like under 7lb. My american strats are 8 ish pounds and not as resonant. The pickups are just as good as aftermarket hand wounds ive put in my other guitars. I would suggest the CV and a little modding or a set up if needed.

I've had about 8 classic vibes; strats, telecasters, mustang. To me, the necks were puny. Depth wise, I found them too thin. Fender products don't really fit. My Sweetwater rep told me the pure vintage saddles would fit my strat and learned the hard way that that wasn't true. Same with the pickguards and the tuners. Nothing is easy. They look good though.
@joekelly93692 ай бұрын
Yes i bought my first fender strat in the early 80s , i have a few LP,s since , i find myself looking at squires now in 2024 , for more than the fender cost then , il still ditch the trem arm in the crap draw every time .
@tankdarla6376 ай бұрын
Wouldnt you adjust saddles last?
@Bliggick6 ай бұрын
I assume you got one with a well cut nut. Not always the case. Those frets sound gritty and could use a polish. Other than that, I would like a thicker block, but I find it is really difficult to order one off our favorite on-line retailer that is guaranteed to fit a CV Strat. I see this Strat has a traditional switch. This is good and not always the case in Classic Vibes, with many having a circuit board switch. CTS pots and a Switchcraft jack would be a nice economical upgrade. Just for esthetics, another cheap upgrade is a matching 3-ply backplate to match the front pickguard. I would keep the rest as is.

I think I’m probably gonna get one of the lake placid blue ones, and some big letter stickers to make my initials like srv’s number one. Idk if it’d be cheesy or cool though.

Take a careful look at 3:48. Why do every Squier CLASSIC VIBE 60s candy apple red STRATOCASTER of this vintage (including mine) have a bald spot in the well for the bridge pickup? It suggests to me that a UPC or model code sticker was there that they didn't want shipped and they cut them out with an Xacto kinife. Whatever, there was a sticker there that was covered with lacquer then cut out and removed. Two other things I noticed. This is probably a vintage correct spec, but if you buy a loaded pickguard to replace the stock, the screw hole by the middle pickup does not line up, and you will have to drill a new screw hole. No big deal, nothing will show regardless of which pickguard you use. The other unique thing I noticed is that there is a defined sharp angle on the back where the back curves to the side. Every other Strat I've played does not have this. Is this another vintage correct spec?

I'd always recommend doing the truss rod before the string height. Adjusting the truss rod changes the string height and determines how low you can go without buzz.
@bryancollins67966 ай бұрын
These can make good mod platforms, but keep in mind they are metric. So that means you can't swap the bridge. Pickups, jack, NP.
@agarc10815 күн бұрын
is the body of the guitar the same thickness as fender strats? or is it similar to the thin body squier guitars?

I like my 60s CV Strat, but would you have any suggestions on the strings being tight, harder to bend? I put hybrid slinky strings on mine, and it's still harder to bend than the ones I have on my Mexican Tele. Any reason why or a fix?
