One thing I would like to point out is the Asian sold Classic Vibes are to an even higher standard and they also come in different custom colors. I have seen colors that I never saw in the USA

I own one of these. Punches above its weight. For moders, keep in mind it's built in metric. Most mod parts don't use metrics, so there's no easy drop-ins for upgrading hardware.

I put a Charlie Christian Pickup in my neck. I love it. Very heavy for a tele. Still need to get a proper bridge and nut as well.

Were you adjusting the saddles with the guitar tuned to pitch? If so, detune before adjusting. Takes longer but strips less.

I love it when someone can buy and receive a relatively good yet inexpensive guitar that plays well, resonates nicely, sounds good, and inspires them to play. The only thing about these at least in my experience- the chrome hardware seems to tarnish super-easily. I am one of those people when I put a guitar away for the day/session/gig, I leave NO fingerprints or sweat, etc… I never had this tarnish issue with any other level Fender guitar. Maybe they’ve gotten better with the chrome playing. Hopefully they have.

I have a 2010 that I purchased new. Back then they were using alder and rosewood. There was a problem with the early CVC pickups dying and mine was no exception. It now has a Seymour Duncan JD in the bridge which I like much better because I prefer a little more girth that the early 50’s had. The neck pickup was really nice. Very Strat like. Replaced it with a Fender Twisted Tele. Should have left the original because to my ears they sound exactly alike. I hate threaded saddles so I installed brass compensated. The vintage style tuners are great and have held up well. I wish all my guitars had vintage style tuners. The neck feels a little thin for me but I get used to after a minute. Over all I’ve I’m happy with it and I love the way it looks but in hind sight I would have been better off with the 50’s Classic Vibe with the better sounding and reliable bridge pickup and thicker neck.

Besides the baritone, there is a matching Squier Classic Vibe '60s Esquire in sunburst, and that is a guitar I own. My local music store had 2 of these on sale and the one I bought had a perfect setup that was so much better than the other one. I did look under the pickguard and there was no route for a neck pickup, so it was built to be an Esquire from inception. Too bad about the saddles on yours but I changed mine to compensated brass saddles right away. Other than installing CTS pots and a Switchcraft jack there is nothing left to upgrade. The pickup, tuners and nut are just fine.

I would replace anyways the original saddles with the Wilkinson compensated. Teles had those intonation problems from the beginning until the 6 saddles hardtail. Great demo anyways. Other than the saddles I think it's worth to buy it for the price, even upgrade the tuners.

Can you put humbucker in bridge as well or just the neck?

I just got one a week ago, and i have a perfect one, zero issues and i love it, im gonna compare it to a player 2 tele my son just bought, im curious to compare
@thrasherftw2 ай бұрын
How did it compare?
@Kevin20ftw2 ай бұрын
@thrasherftw it's hard to compare, I like the fender version as much as the squire, I think the squire plays a little better but I think it's because of it being 21 frets vs 22. The 60s squire you have to give amp more power to equal the fender. Maybe fender has better quality material but squire does a better finishing job than fender, with a better set of pickups the squire would definitely be the better buy. It's probably the better buy without new pick ups
@Kevin20ftw2 ай бұрын
@thrasherftw man, you got me thinking a lot. And I don't want to give you the wrong idea. Out of the box, the fender has it beat on set up, but it's a 799.00 guitar vs. the 449.00 the squire is. On top of that, the custom 60s tele, from what I understand, is the best quality squire they make. I have never played or owned any other squire. So I don't really want to say squire is fantastic because it's not. But for the money, this particular model is can say it was a good experience. Slap some sperzel locking tuners and better pickups and it would be like playing a 2000.00 fender tele

For the price of one American Ultra you can buy five Squires.

The classic vibes aren’t what they used to be. Fender changed nearly everything about them. Previous custom had alder body, rosewood neck, tonerider pickups and quality hardware. Made in China. Even the finish was different, old one actually had an authentic 60s 3 tone sunburst rather then this 2 tone burst.

@@bldallas sorry I’ve never seen or held anything remotely decent named Squire. I’ve been playing since 1980. They’re crap. You can get better for the same price elsewhere. Luckily i was able to sell a Squire I got suckered into from all the great KZbin ratings. It was crap but some Squire loving dude gladly took it off my hands.
