Duncan's religion is starting to spread across the tiny land, but surprisingly most people seem chill about it. Maybe Mr. Lama raises some good points. Particularly since Lewis hasn't bothered building Shrines. Like, at all.

I love Daltos just saying nonsense. Iron swords are way better than bronze swords, they don't damage as easily(although swords in general are more fragile than you'd think) and they have more of an impact against armor. In general though swords until recently with gunpowder in play have never really won conflicts, spears are pretty much better for any organized conflict at scale, faster to make and also they are so biomechanically practical it matters a bit less what you make the head out of. Even then you generally want to try to make them out of something as strong as or better than enemy armor, so it might survive longer.

This episode we saw a lot of building and players settling islands. Yes, as Duncan asked himself earlier, it is probably too late to settle unless you've gone exploration but late settles can be done in Civ V if you're smart about using your trade routes. This is easiest to do at sea which is why a common tactic for coastal civs is to start as a four city (sometimes even three) tradition and then once you have a few trade routes up and your core cities are well developed you start settling nearby islands. With food trade routes the new settles will be able to catch up in pop with your other cities quickly and with production trade routes they can quickly churn out key buildings to bring them up to a productive level. This needs good coordination of your workers, gold, cargo ships, and being able to prioritize important buildings while skipping nonessential ones. (Usually you only care about food, production and science, maybe gold, for these new cities for probably most of the game). Your hope is these cities will grow quickly enough to produce more science than you will lose to the penalty for having more cities. Done well in the time for the trade routes to reset you should have a city sufficiently grown and built up that it can be self sufficient and you start a new city. This is a very greedy tactic as it often means you're prioritizing expansion over building military and can expose you to more opportunities of attack depending on where you settle. You also will slow down your science pace in the short term in hopes of long term returns. What about waiting for colonization and resettlement? A well placed city with even just two trade routes feeding it will be bigger and more built up than a city waiting potentially 30 turns for you to get the order opener. Likewise in the exploration tree treasure fleets which makes any sea tile fantastic is far more important than 2 extra population which with a food trade route you can have in a city in as little as two turns. In fact, every policy on the left side of the tree makes every coastal city better faster and are much more worth taking. They can help but there's usually better policies to take.

The penality for extra cities might as well not exist because it's so easy to get past. It's additive, and it's 5% per city (lower on larger maps). If you have 1k science with only 1 city your second city needs 50 science to be worth it. I don't have to explain how easy that is to do. If you have 4 cities it's even easier because it's not actually a 5% increased cost due to the fact you're already at 1.15x costs. Late settles are actually super underrated. You don't need exploration to pull it off, you just need the happiness. Culture costs are far more aggressive in their scaling.

I like the wacky non-civ stuff of civ6 as optional things that are clearly not intended as the core gameplay experience but I don't like them being part of the game at base because, as daltos said, that's not really what civ "should be".

Its interesting to watch people who play a game almost routinely and yet they just never get better at it. Its like there is a cap that people hit where they just have no interest in getting better at something and stay at their plateau.

If you guys want to get more out of the civ content it might be worth uploading supercuts with the entire game in one video after uploading each part
@aduboo29
@aduboo29 3 ай бұрын
But that might also cause people to wait for and watch the supercut instead of the episodes, so they'd go from getting 6-15 views per person per series to 1 view in a lot of cases.
