I just embraced playing older games instead, and only get them when they're very cheap and (/or) really high on my wishlist. That replaces my backlog, allows me to get complete editions, sometimes used, at a very low price, and don't waste even 1% of what I used to spend on games of which I only played half (of which I only enjoyed half), often just having buyers remorse about it. Much more gaming for much less money. Which literally allowed me to buy a forest and a mountain to find some space and peace, instead of always wanting more stuff to fill my little apartment back in the day, which was full of stuff but always felt empty.

I'm so happy you gave an honest review of Ni No Kuni II, because i feel like most reviews I've seen of it have been incredibly generous. I found the blurriness of the backgrounds were almost unbearable when playing as Evan, i guess because he moves faster than when you play as Roland. Not even to mention the world map. Playing it on switch actually gave me a headache because of the visuals. It's funny just because i didn't have any of those issues playing the first one on switch. Pretty disappointing.

Been interested in New World, but there is a lot of features lacking so I have been told. a few vTubers I follow also say that once you hit Level 60, things get dull. Character creation is a bit limited in choices, but that being said, I am going to give this game a chance when I get some time and funds (as I am dedicating funds primarily towards Arma 3 atm). I will also need time as I am dedicating plenty towards Final Fantasy 14 and Minecraft with a different server I am in. I plan to try out the original Ni no Kuni at some point as well, I miss the old school Studio Ghibli style of animation (both in anime and with video games). If it helps in the future when you encounter games that have you "sucked into another world", the term I like to use, and I have heard several others use it as well, is called "Isekai'd", for whenever a character gets that scenario happen to them. granted I didn't see the animation, but I wonder where that character had that gun on his person lol. Perfect opportunity for "is that a gun in your pocket or are you happy to see me" bit. Sequels can sometimes, not live up to the expectations of the originals. Be that the game introduces story elements, game mechanics, and other reasons that can make a gamer feel thrown out of their immersion with the game that the original had. Also, I love the subtle nod you gave to the mouse character from Death end re;Quest. I CAN'T HELP IT THE BACKLOG GROWS AS I GET INVESTED IN CERTAIN GAMES!!! Metroidvanias have never been my preference, be they a Nintendo game or others. which is kinda ironic in a sense in that they were the 2D side scroller "Open World" games of the time. Yet, I am completely comfortable with 3D open world games. You and I should get around to some 3D open world games, like The Division 2 and Ghost Recon: Wildlands> Undercup Things, the new term for Coasters. Correct me if I am wrong, the word would be "dalbane" for you lol. Side Note: that "abuse" is actual love for the handheld consoles you cherished.
