I think your push on the turn in the AQcc hand is very good. The only suggestion I would make is check raising on the turn instead of open jamming. As you correctly note, villian's actions preflop represent a large pocket or two large cards. KK is a very likely hand as it is unblocked and you also have a worry about a chop with another AQ especially because his preflop reraise was a bit on the small side. This is a good jam spot as you have equity if you are called with Ace over card and club draw if you are up against Kings and jamming might get him to fold KK. If you run into Jacks you have the club draw. The only question is whether you think he might be bluffing, such as the skinny. That's something game and player dependent. You also don't mention stack size, only that you have them covered, so don't know fold equity, but if you think this is a player who might blast off with AK, 10s, or 23, then you could give him a chance to do so with a check on the turn and then check raise. That would show a ton of strength and you could easily balance that with a set or two pair. I think it's player specific on whether you think you'll get a check behind on turn if you attempt to check raise.

8:37 - 8:43 Those black aces look kinda marked to me. Definite bend in the middle at the smaller end of each card. You can see it more when they go into the muck at the top of the screen.

As a rec player, I recognize I play too tight. What are some recommendations for loosening up my play? I look for spots to bluff, but man....i always seem to choose the wrong spots, which causes me to return to tight play. I recognize I'm playing too tight but can't seem to find a way to adjust to fix that. I just play for fun, so I don't really study. What are some thibgs I can look at to get more comfortable loosening up my play?
@jaredcarrick3468 Жыл бұрын
Sounds like you need to work on the basics and fundamentals. Start off by studying range charts. Picking the right spots to bluff typically comes down to range vs range and having the right blockers, as well as your opponent’s table image, etc. Board and hand reading are also important when you consider the line (their precise sequence of betting and sizing and/or checking on each street) they take given their range of possible hands you are able to narrow it down to. This allows you to recognize really bad turns and rivers for the best made hand on the flop and blast off to get the bluff through. Knowing how and when to bluff on later streets though requires more skill and experience and the willingness to sometimes float or make wide calls on the flop with weak draws or backdoors from time to time if you feel like the cbettor/aggressor on the flop is betting a wide range of hand strengths. For instance, an aggressive player in the CO 3 bets your standard preflop open from MP. You only have AJ suited but you know they could be 3 betting wide with their position so you call. Then you flop 2 overs and a couple backdoor draws. Your opponent cbets small on the relatively draw heavy flop. You know top pair on the flop probably would have bet a little bigger to charge draws and 2 over card type hands so you just decide to float. Turn is a total brick and you check and they check back. River brings an offsuit K. At that point, one of the potential straight draws got there, the K is incredibly good for your range, you block AK and straight combos with your J kicker, so the optimal play is a lead on the river for like 75% pot to charge top and second pair on the flop if they want to hero call, which they probably can’t seeing is how their check back on the turn means they likely didn’t even have top pair on the flop.

I watch your vlogs and also hear the action can't be beat at The Peppermill. If/when I get a chance to visit Reno, is there a preferable time to come, like during a specific season, month, tournament series, or when? Are the cash games usually more juicy during a tournament series, like most places?
@BenDeach Жыл бұрын
Best time to come is probably November. Cheaper room rates. oddly the action doesn’t change much with a series going on.

I don’t quite understand the logic in AQcc hand. You think that you can get better to fold and worse to call? Or are you just bluffing with equity against overpairs?

I have a Mike Postle Sighting as well: He is a Broncos fan and he commented on the Mile High Huddle Podcast and I was shocked that nobody called him out for being the card cheater he is; unless they didn’t know. I think they didn’t know... so I called him out and he wouldn’t respond. I saw him comment at the end of a show days later. I said tell me your not the poker cheater Mike Postle after he mentioned his young daughter. I can’t believe he is trying to play live under another name though.

Dealer need to keep it professional and after a 5-10 second pause go let a player in the blinds who has mucked his hand by mistake to realise that mistake, then mucked the cards without saying a word. It's not the dealers job to help any player, but they do it all the time.
