Short description 1) Open NPCs 2) Drag Pseudodragon in to combat tracker 3) Make it visible 4) Click the faction button (Skull) to make it friendly 5) Place the token on the map 6) Drag the red dragon icon of the NPC in the the combat tracker to the icon of a player (in the upper left corner of the screen) 7) Players can now double click on the icon to open the character sheet. 8) If the player hovers the mouse over an attack/skill/save on the character sheet, the it is highlighted 9) If the player double clicks on an attack/skill/save on the character sheet, then the attack is performed 10) The DM has to press end turn

Perfect! My new player will be using a sidekick for a short time, which I made like an NPC. This will allow me to give them control until they start using their official character

An update occurred, the Option for Token(GM) Party Vision and Movement must be set to ON in order for the player to move the NPC.

@@brunobottossi Probably not, since players can't create anything other than their characters and notes. It would need a considerable change in the way FG works to allow players to create things.

I always thought my players had to control the npcs though the combat tracker when I gave them the npc sheet... Didn't know they got the actual sheet. I'll have to remember that.

It's exactly the same in Unity. The only difference is that if you want your player to be able to move the NPC token you'll need to go into options and turn on Party Vision and Movement. The side effect of this is that any player can them move any other token (not just their own); so you may not want that. If you don't switch that option on then only the DM will be able to move the token of the shared NPC.

It seems like it might be easier overall to just have the NPC _not_ be a NPC, & , instead, just be a _player character._ Then the character can have full control without compromise.

That’s certainly true and worth doing if the NPC will be part of a long term campaign such as a henchman or follower. But too much work for a creature summoned from a spell or when the NPC isn’t going to stick around for long.

Aha! Wildshape is possible like this, thank you that is what I was looking for! If there is any other specific advice about how to prep/manage 5E Druid's Wildshape ability in FG I would be interested in seeing a clip about that too. For example, I expect I should remove the Druid's normal character from the combat tracker, and that as DM I am responsible for assigning excess damage to the character when their temporary form is destroyed and I am returning the original Druid to the map.

I don't know; I banned my players from playing a Druid since they are such a pain in the arse (the druid - not the players). When I did allow it I I limited the Druid to three Wildshapes and created PCs for each one rather than use NPCs. That way you can have all the stats correct and attacks, resistances, saving throws etc correct. At any rate since I banned them MintyFresh has come up with this extension which I think is probably essential www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?46890-Druid-Wild-Shapes-(for-5E) (I haven't told my players about this extension - so keep it quiet if you can :)

@@neilslater8223 Just on one of the points above. You wouldn't remove the PC from the Combat Tracker otherwise you would lose things like effects etc. Just skip over the PC that's wildshaping.
