He said elite play for a decade is harder than winning a chip but then to evidence this he says afetr Ralph Samson got hurt it took years for Hakeem to get back to "that point" becuase of the team he was on. I'm assuming "that point" means finals/winning the finals. His example makes it seem winning a chip is the most unlikely because of your team, because inspite of his team, he was racking up years of elite play, which is what he rates about Hakeem. Sounds to me Hakeem is gets more bonus points for sticking it out and winning chips with unlikely odds than simply playing at an elite level. But tbf they go hand-in-hand.

His point was, if you’re on the right team at the right time winning a championship gets increasingly easier than sustaining being elite for over a decade. Patrick mccaw won 2 rings with the warriors and then went to the raptors. And because of injuries the warriors faced won another. That is much easier than for mccaw to do than for him to have a 10 year career let alone be elite for those years. Like what’s was easier, lebron winning 2 rings in Miami or lebron being elite for like 15 years

It's the reason why despite Jordan Poole averaging like 29 when he starts, he's coming off the bench as his +/- and win ratio is far higher off the bench despite averaging less. Hakeem is rated so highly because of how well his game translates to winning basketball, as is every top 10. Imo ranking how well a player's game translates to winning basketball requiring less help should be in the top 3 of categories looked at for greatness, that along with peak and longevity. That just makes the most sense to me, which one you focus on the most would move rankings around a little.
