Every time I hear about how she didn't know women could play football, I feel so distraught because 25-30 years back we didn't know what the future of women's football was! Today players like Alexia are the ones young girls can look up to and dream of playing professionally. I feel so proud to look upto a player and human like Alexia because every single interview she's done so far, she's always focused and elaborated most on the part that women's football needs to grow. And that football is a sport for everyone irrespective of your gender! She's truly made sure her Ballon d'Or win is highlighting the more important things and the development women's football needs! She is inspiring young girls, boys and even the rest of us that dreaming the impossible doesn't mean it's impossible! Her journey has been incredible so far and she's only going to go higher🙌

She should be given Ballon D'Or for humility alone. Never in my more than 4 decades of watching the game have I come across such a humble, down to earth player. And her thought process - so deep. I mean how many sports person have we seen "cherish" the defeats in their careers? 🤔 Surely among the best footballing intelligence across genders. And definitely one of the top "through ball" artists in history. Its been a privilege watching Alexia Putellas play the beautiful game in a beautiful way.
