This video should be shown to every offensive lineman from JV to D1 O-lineman should be shown and re-shown. It’s the hardest group position in football. He pulled around the tackle to blow up the play side linebacker (which was absolutely brilliant) and he did that on a play where a pull wasn’t designed. With the line sliding and shifting down to set the running lane, if he would have climbed the ladder to blow up the play side backer not only would he have had to adjust his angle of attack to keep from being caught up, now he’s on the outside of the running lane being set and the backer could crash the tail end of the running lane giving the running back no where to go except out of bounds. The I.Q. To pull to the inside of the running lane allowed him to seal or engage the play side backer before he got to the running back. If you aspire to be an offensive lineman, you need to STUDY the film of how he chose to block the smaller defensive tackle from the Falcons, because that isn’t taught, infact there is not a drill that you will go through where you rotate your hips out sealing off the defensive tackle like he did. Listen to every word he speaks on why he did that, watch it over and over until it becomes part of your soul. While you are listening to why he blocked him like that, you are getting a look into the mind of a future Hall of Famer.

Elite pass-rushers are more valuable than Elite guards. Especially in a Passing League. You can move around an Elite pass-rusher. You won't really be moving around a Guard. If Chubb has a great career, Elway made the right choice. He was already off to a good start his rookie year. Got injured his second year.
