So many of KH's more bittersweet arcs have a very similar "Sad Pinnochio" set up: 1) A new version of an existing character is created (replica, data version, even nobodies) 2) That version is told they are not "real", they don't have a heart, etc. 3) That version has Adventures where they Make Friends and Show Emotions and basically prove #2 to be untrue. 4) That version has to die because they were not "real"; queue Dearly Beloved; they try to be optimistic about it 5) Boss Fight For Some Reason

I thought we left Riku's "I'm weak because I'm tempted by the Darkness" thing behind like 2 games ago. It's weird that the plot seems to both have forgotten that these aren't the same characters as the real Sora and Riku, but also keeps bringing up bits of their character that have already been developed over. Boy, they sure are getting their mileage out of the "dark mode Riku" model. It sure seems like "we're not real people so we're not as important as everyone else" is a real theme running through these spin-offs, huh? In this case, though, it seems like it should be fairly easy to solve. Just copy the datascape as it exists now onto a separate drive, then restore the journal on the original. That way you have both versions, and nobody has to make a dramatic sacrifice. I thought the bugs came from Namine tampering with the journal. I also was under the impression that Sora's heartless stopped existing when Sora went back to normal. Which, consequentially, would mean that when they picked Data-Sora out of the journal, no matter where in the journal he came from, there shouldn't have been a Heartless to leave behind. Sora and Sora as a Heartless ARE THE SAME PERSON. Okay, let's accept that Sora as a Heartless is from a different journal entry than regular Data-Sora, or something equally somewhat plausible. How did it incorporate the bug things? If it created the bugs from itself, how could getting rid of them make it stronger than it was when it made them? I would think that defeating a bug would just delete it, because that's what THE GAME TELLS US WE'VE BEEN DOING. Oh, sure, throw a big MacGuffin at us right at the end of the game. Oh wait, it's not the end of the game. I'm sure this plotline about the "Book of Prophecies" will be cleanly wrapped up at the end of this game, and won't have any loose threads that need wrapping up in another game somewhere. HOD THE PHONE. If the journal as Riku could partition himself off and not get deleted when they reset the journal, why didn't he take Data-Sora with him? He's data, surely when the journal resets it'll have Sora in it, on account of he was in the original entries anyway. Jiminy's Journal is an asshole.

Based on the Union Cross scene, Maleficent went time-traveling back when Sora defeated her in KH1, and then came back to the present (somehow) for KH2, with no memory of what happened in the past, but etchings on her heart to nudge her in certain ways.

-ok yeah Data Heartless Sora looks so freaking cool; but yeah it got more Darkness power because Maleficent brought her own real Heartless -honestly, im amazed anyone can be Tech savvy in the KH universe -yeah it was an episodic game last I checked, well the Phone version was, the DS Re:coded was the full thing -wait, the Journal has ALL of the KH1 adventures, can't you just make a Data Sora out of the "we beat Ansem yay!" part? ...ok I say "all" but thankfully Jimenny decided to skip the whole Gummy Ship & there are the "Plot relevant things": (Spoiler warning) -in order to fight Xehanot they need to save Ventus, Aqua & Terra; but if they play their cards right they might also be able to bring back/save Roxas, Namine & Xion -& that's why Sora, Kairi & Riku decide to train n the arts of the Keyblade, & take the Mark of Mastery exam -Jimmeny's diary being able to create worlds inside it, proves that the Book of Prophecies was made eons ago; & she gets powers from it, but is Spoilers what it is.... said book doesn't show up until Union-X which is still on-going so right now everything is set-up

Honestly, that Dark Riku fight is one of the best (only actually good maybe) choreographed fights in the 'movie'. Action was actually fast and intense, fit in some of the iconic framing from KH1 in there, just good stuff all around. Shame it lasts about 10 seconds and Sora ends it in one hit anti-climactically again.

Looks to be a very easy job for Sora, considering those bug bugs don't even fight back. "Now's not the time for a review"? Dan, now's the PERFECT time for a review! For the players, at least. You yourself mentioned that this would likely be many people's first Kingdom Hearts game. They would desperately need a review! (But there would be better times, indeed.) Pete just said something sounds like "fairy tale stuff" to someone who comes from a fairy tale. The art style of that Sora emoji looking thing looks quite similar to the Theatrhythm and Kingdom Hearts X styles. Did this precede them both?

358/2 is way more successful than this. But DigiSora and DigiRiku's interactions are still pretty good! Which is honestly kind of a shame, because I'm more invested in this duo than I am in Roxas+Axel, so I wish their surrounding story was more interesting overall. But instead we get a weird digiworld plot about unwritten/unremembered memories and a whole lot of all the Disney worlds we're all fed up with.

I think the biggest problem is that Sora and Riku are data. If this was actually them then their interactions would be more meaningful and actually develop the characters. I think that everything Riku is saying here is great development. But it's not Riku.

Once again, mickey with the non kingdom key, not the golden key, something that should be impossible due to previous lore. The only reason he even HAS a keyblade is because it's THAT keyblade, in that form, specifically and only. And it breaks with the lore, and never explains why or how.
