Hi friends, I hope you enjoy the video. I've decided to do a year long project but instead of a mood blanket, I'll be doing an affirmations blanket using a simple 5 minute flower . Along with the flower , there is a simply jayg method and filler motif option. I'll share regular updates but I'd love if you join a long with this your own daily blossom blanket! xx If you do, be sure to tag me with regular updates on Instagram. @playhookywithme

@ how do you come up with the colors for your affirmations?
@PlayHookywithMe9 күн бұрын
@@ULandaJones-w1p Not sure if you are asking me or Ulanda but I will give you some ideas. If you check in the description bo,x I've shared a sample month (January) with this months themed affirmations along with a suggested color palette for January. The colors can be slightly different per month maybe going from cooler to warmer colors as the months progress. Sort of like a temperature blanket. Or you could pick a selection of colors that you want your blanket to be and then choose each day simply by how you are feeling (incorporating the mood like the mood blanket I shared last year) If you use an oracle deck then you could also pull from the illustration colors for the card you randomly picked that day. Really, the colors are secondary to the affirmations part. The key is to take that moment for self care and work with a color that feels good to you in the moment . For me, I've chosen about 7 warm colors (reds, yellows, pinks) that will be my flowers and cool colors (greens and blues) to add the small circle motifs in between. Hope that helps
@ULandaJones-w1p9 күн бұрын
@ Yes, Thank you 😊 I appreciate the information and guidance. Good point on the self care because when making the flowers it does give you a moment to relax. 🌸💕

I do think the more I crochet, the more I appreciate planning the project out. I wish for the blanket I am working on that I had done join-as-you-go, but I didn't have a full plan before I dove in and started making squares!

I would love to see this blanket pattern created in a diagonal pattern. I am not talking about the affirmation or mood blanket concept, just the flowers done in a diagonal pattern so that I can alternate colors without having to "change" after each flower. I don't know if this is making any sense but I think that the blanket design is beautiful and I would love to see it done in two colors. It is a lovely blanket.

I love this, but I am confused how you are choosing your colours ???
@PlayHookywithMe16 күн бұрын
Like I mentioned in the video, I chose a selection of colors that I liked (the box you saw at the beginning) . Then I’m randomly choosing a card from the deck and getting inspiration from the colors in the illustration. My focus is on being still for a moment reflecting on the message while I create a flower to represent it so really the color is secondary. If I wasn’t using the deck to inspire the color then I would just choose the one that feels good on the day. But of course, there are more structured ways of doing it. That’s why a temperature, scrap or mood blanket works well too!
@kathymoore713714 күн бұрын
Thx for that.

Would you please add a paragraph in the description about what is "affirmation" and the principle of the color code ? i'm not familiar with this philosophy (is it one ?), and what would be the principle behind the choice of colors for each day. I saw very different things in the cards you shown, so I can't manage to guess what is the link between the cards, the choice regarding each day, and the colors. (I would guess that you are crocheting the colors of the card you pick up randomly that day, but what's the link with the content of your day ?) . I'm quite lost, if you care to elaborate, i would love that :). thank you :) !
@SONICRAFTS16 күн бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. You read my mind...
@PlayHookywithMe15 күн бұрын
I’ll add something more structured for you in the description box basically it’s something I made up for myself. I chose an oracle deck with different positive messages that I can pull from randomly each day. I’ll read it and keep pondering it in my mind while I crochet the flower. 🌺 I’m going to also add a journal entry to keep track. The message and the color I chose. It’s a “mindfulness “ practice of focusing on something good and positive and being “still” for a few minutes. As far as colors - I picked several colors that I want in my blanket and will used the colors on the oracle card to help me choose the color of the flower that day. Otherwise I would treat it like a mood blanket and choose a color that represents how I feel that day. However , there are tons of ways you could do this. Scriptures , daily gratitude, goal setting, anything that would be a moment of taking time . You could also have color and affirmation themes per month. I can organize something like that if you’d like. Give a list of daily affirmations for the year plus color prompts if you like and monthly themes . 💕 Addendum: I added an example in the description box for January .

What is an affamation blanket hiw do you decude colours
@PlayHookywithMe16 күн бұрын
This is something I’ve “made up” for myself, so how to do it is relative. Everyday , I’m going meditate on an affirmation while I crochet a flower. To help , I have an oracle deck that has some uplifting messages that I’ll randomly pick each day - I’ll read it first and then reflect on it as I crochet my flower. I’m treating it like a self care moment where I get “quiet”. This would also work well with “self concept affirmations” , daily gratitude , or scriptures. Mainly it’s about being mindful and focusing on the good for those few minutes. The colors : I chose a group of colors that I like together ( the box of yarn I showed at the beginning) and I’ll just pick up a color at random each day or be inspired by the colors on the oracle deck to help me choose. Hope that makes sense.

Roz? You prefer Tulip hooks over Clover Amour hooks? What is the advantage?
@PlayHookywithMe10 күн бұрын
Hi Kat. I like them equally the same . A viewer recommended Tulips to me after seeing how much I liked Clover Amour The Tulips have lasted me for years with no complaint but I wouldn’t say they are any better than Clover . I’d recommend getting one in your favorite size and see what you think 💕 If I had to compare , I’d say the rubber of the ergonomic handle on Tulip is slightly slimmer than the ones on Clover . Great question, though, I’ll pay more attention for a while and see if there are any pros and cons. ❤️

I always think I would like to crochet a temperature blanket but I don't know where to start with the colour selections. Do you have four or so colours for each season? I live in Brisbane Australia and there is not a big change or drops in temperatures throughout the year. Summer is between 29 celsius to 35, 36 celsius with the odd 39, 40 celsius. Winter is between 15 to 23 or 24 celsius during the day. It might drop down to 3 celsius around 4 or 5 am but rises quickly. Do you go by the daily temperature? I'd love to be able to work all that out. Is it yellows and greens or something for summer days? Are storms included or just temperatures? It never snows during winter so what do I do? Cool blue for days on end? Sounds boring. What is your opinion please?
@PlayHookywithMe15 күн бұрын
Great questions and really the answer to that is yes . Meaning , yes you can handle it in all the ways you mentioned . I’d recommend you check out the love crafts link that I mentioned in the video (link in description box) to give you an overview on how to get started . You’ll see examples there . Since your temps don’t change that much, you could narrow down the temperature ranges . To help give it variety , maybe you could include extra colors /shades to represent cloudy, windy, rainy days in each season/category. Instead of focusing purely on the temperature, you could divide it into seasonal categories. Spring : greens and pastels Summer: warm yellow and reds Fall: oranges and browns Winter: blues and grays Really , you can do it however you like . I’d recommend you just sit with it and jot down your temps like you did here . Pick colors you like for those ranges and incorporate the seasonal changes and weather for that day. Your blanket , your rules 🧶✨ Hope that helped. To be fair, I’ve never made one either because I live in the south of the US and there’s not much of a variety here either. But there’s always a way to get creative with it .
