If you wanted to do all 5 "Chicago" positions, you could play A on a C harp (4th Position), and A on an F harp (5th Position.) Those are the 5 positions as acknowledged by Little Walter, Junior Wells, and Walter Horton. There's also a useable 6th Position and a useable 12th Position, but we're kinda stretching things a bit at that point.

That`s great man. Really a revelation for me. I love second, third and fith position. But I have never had the idea to switch harps, staying in the same key in a single song. I do not know why. Sometimes it needs the outside to have an insight. Thanks man. I wish You knew, how You helped me with this video😊

I love the sound of 3ed position like a chromatic, wish I could play 3ed but can't bend/blow well. But I play a bit Chromatic for minor blues
@stephenbouchelle7706
@stephenbouchelle7706 5 жыл бұрын
I use 3rd for clearly minor blues, but you do a great job with “straight” blues. I will try sticking to third on all my jam trax for a while. Can you do one on 5th - (E on a C harp I think)? I started with Green Onions. It’s a pretty cool position. I’d like to hear you on 5th. I’m sure that would expand my understanding of it.

not much of an improvisor outside of 1st 2nd and 3rd. I do use 4th,5th for melodies but I need to work on improvisation in those positions. :)

Is it the blues scale on each of the harps? If so, where is that scale located on the instrument specifically in each position?

are E, G, A, Bflat, the main keys for blues? what are the others?
@Harmonica123
@Harmonica123 5 жыл бұрын
not sure there are "main keys" as I've played in all the keys in the context of blues. that said, I play in E,A,G plenty on a A, D, C tons. I'd own C,A,G,D and Bb harmonicas before others.
@iamrishio
@iamrishio 5 жыл бұрын
Don’t really understand. First position of an A harp is the Key of A. I am hearing it in the blues key of E which is like the key of Em. So I think he is playing the key of E blues with different harps.
@Harmonica123
@Harmonica123 5 жыл бұрын
no this is not correct. Every harmonica is being played in the key of E in various positions (different key harmonicas).

Where is the difference???
@Harmonica123
@Harmonica123 5 жыл бұрын
not sure exactly what you're asking but the difference between 1st, 2nd & 3rd position is that the scales are different so this is why we change key harmonicas. it's great for switching up your phrasing and having a different tone by switching key harmonicas. not sure that answers the question.

@Harmonica123

@@danieldaniel2459 the highest key of the 3 harps I used is the D harp, then A , then G. You can solo in any of the positions or play background in any position, with some practice.
