I struggled for a long time against the morra until recently. There is a little bit of theory for it. You essentially play a taimanov structure with. E6 and A6. Slow it all down. The point being that racing to develop your pieces to try to catch up leaves you tactically vulnerable so you close down the space on the queenside then develop safely and compactly. The structure created also gives your queen freedom to escape the annoying rook pins on the D file which are sooo dangerous in the opening.

1:03 I can tell you why i love rapid so much and hate blitz With rapid i can do other things simultaneously I can eat in the process i can answer the phone i can even take a shit(usually about 4 minutes) If i spent 4+ minutes on my move and my opponent thinks that i was thinking he's probably wrong

Lol, I always am wondering what my opponent is thinking about at certain times when a move seems so obvious. Now I know!

I feel like at times you do overcalculate positional moves and pawn moves, rather than calculating your own kingside attack or center breakage. What helped me get to 2170 was to always look for captures and attacks, if not, play really positionally. Sometimes you fall into that positional trap and miss some tactics or favorable captures. Good luck with 2000!

Thanks man! This is great advice! I need to remember to always look for captures and checks, maybe I can get into a mindset of asking myself that! Thanks brother!

@@Blunder_ManIm a 2107 and what helped me is that you should always look for checks first, then captures (You and opponents captures). Those are the 2 most forcing moves (Meaning they are usually the most powerful and important)
@Chess_Master605 ай бұрын
@@Blunder_Mantactics are also important, if you can get used to certain tactics, then you don't have to wait for one to appear, you can set it up. Like traps. I'd reccomend analyzing your games to find tactics missed, and puzzles.

@@Chess_Master60 thanks for the tips! I always look for tactics missed in my games, and I have been trying to improve by training them, thanks for the encouragement! I can see 1800 is within reach for me, which is exciting, I'm hoping 2k won't be too much further for me, I've been thinking I've been getting extremely good opening advantages and often not able to convert games into wins, but if I can figure out how to play solid with a lead then I'll definitely be advancing ranks! Thanks for watching my stuff brother!

And never trade all your pieces when you are a pawn down, king vs king pawn down is always a loss

The computer prefers E4 to moving your king up. Does it also prefer castling at that point? This is something I see you do a fair amount, so I wonder how the computer normally feels about it.
@Blunder_Man5 ай бұрын
In that particular situation it preferred long, but in other variations it prefers moving the king up, for example, if I'd have played the pawn to g6 instead of doing that queen move, then moving the king is better than castling either direction

Owen im going to give you a tip, (almost!! There are some exeptions) never move a piece twice in the opening.
