Playing some games on my IBM 5155! Thanks to viewer Berend Vosmer for helping me fix it :) . One of a series of three videos I'm releasing this week playing on this machine (for now).

I bet the developer was so proud of that debris effect, destroyed enemies breaking apart. It must have taken serious chops to figure that out for its era!

Ah, I used to play this on my XT clone as a child. Amber CRT too! This brings back so many memories

I've learned more than I ever had imagined that I'd want to learn about keyboards from this channel. And that was my loss! Consistently wonderful content across the years here. Typing this on my modified IBM Model F AT, which I had lucked into NOS in 2017. Daily driver since then.

Genuinely great soundtrack to this game. A modern orchestral revamp of the music would be epic for a thrilling scifi story

Apparently some youtuber called Bach actually did an organ version of it!

I love this series almost as much as your keeb reviews, which I love almost as much as your voice!

I'm loving these videos

Definitely easier on the eyes than on the Compaq's very ghost-y graphic retention. I wonder if more DOS games can be played on the 5155 like Dangerous Dave or Hocus Pocus or Cycles. 🤔
@Chyrosran222 ай бұрын
It only takes 360 kB floppies so it's difficult to get anything on it!

Man, this takes me back. I started with Commodore machines and later pc clones.... I ought to dig around and see if I can find some of the old games I used to enjoy so much. Have a great day Tom!

I miss scanlines on a phosphor screen! Oh for CRT enthusiasts to make a new generation of CRT screens, like keyboard enthusiasts brought back mechanical keyboards!
@XanthinZarda2 ай бұрын
Maybe not new CRTs, but Dosbox Staging (the distinction is important) has some excellent scanlines going for it. The glow of phosphors, that may take some doing.

I definitely played this in the early eighties, although I think it would have been on the Apple II, and I think it had a different name.

Nice! Load Runner! Haven't played that in years. Pretty much the first game I ever played with mod support.
@Chyrosran222 ай бұрын
I had planned on playing Lode Runner but the diskette has become unreadable D:

I like that you can hear the clack of the keys resulting in an instantaneous action on monitor. DOSBox would certainly show the emulation delay.
@XanthinZarda2 ай бұрын
Have you tried Staging recently?
@yopachi2 ай бұрын
@@XanthinZarda yes, but you are making me curious about my settings.

One of the first games I've seen on the PC. It was a green CRT in my case though. Also damn I remember this game being hard af.

I feel like I've been transported back in time. Not to this game's release, I'm far too young. But to LGR's original review of it.

You know the kids have been playing games on the computer because that one key is worn out.
