You didn’t check for protestant religious features. They are not a thing. You can’t even upgrade trade nodes. The button is even there, but clicking it does nothing. State edicts are also gone, along with marches, and even the fucking cancel idea group button, cuz it needs fucking _Art_ _of_ _war_

Someone on reddit suggested Rights of Man as being the most essential due to occupation transfer. I was playing a game as Kaffa and my ally Ethiopia took over a province I wanted so was forced to end the war without taking land.

As someone who plays with no dlc, it just gets a bit boring since mission trees are almost always the same (some nations have mission trees that are a lot better than others). Colonizing is boring, just to slow and not much to do since you are just waiting around for a while then clicking a button. Most parts of the game feel quite underwhelming. I have trouble figuring out what to do when playing as some nations since most mission trees are practically non existent. Managing the army can be fun and anything involving vassals is terrible, I hate it. Overall the game with all dlc seems far better

Be glad Paradox was "generous" enough to finally allow no-DLC players to develop provinces to get intitutions. It took nearly 2 years between institutions being introduced and giving No-DLC players at least that option, because you can't promote growth via edicts or buy it or anything else without DLCs still - was so fun to get Renaissance in Moskva in 1610! Playing outside Europe impossible.

As a player with no dlcs, i can confirm. Ages and splendor are gone, everything you covered too, and a bunch of other stuff, like the revolution, most religion mechanics, pretty much all mission trees and such. Before 1.30 there were no goverment reforms either, and back in the older days you couldnt dev provinces, too. Also obviously no el dorado or anytthing, and no industralization. Also - no raiding or piracy.

To be honest many things you mentioned are rather quality of life. For example I don't mind not being able to auto explore, just create a corridor through Terra Incognita to the place you want to discover, rest will discover itself after some time. If you are lucky you can also discover America without having colonial range for it so you can get Colonialism if you are lucky as any country. Much bigger problem is that you can't disinherit terrible heirs, strengten government, use vassal's CBs and upgrade your government rank (but you will automaticaly get cultural union if your dev is over 1000). These can be very problematic when you are unlucky and your heir is terrible or you fall into a civil war thanks to low legitimacy (while you also have enough mil points that you would use to strengten government).

Honestly no. If you wait for sales you can get the DLC’s at a reasonable price. Keep in mind paradox has been keeping this game running for over seven years and always giving it love. EA charges $40 for a content pack that puts like 2 items into Sims 4; and they do that deliberately. And they do that four times a year! Paradox in comparison gives us constant free updates and DLCs every year or so.

It was not that bad, mostly annoying with the lack of diplomatic interface and manual army creation, but many nations were literally unplayable, including and not limited to the following: Russia (no Siberian frontier without 3rd Rome), Ming (No Mandate of Heaven), all Hordes (no horde mechanics without Cossacks), and every nation that starts as a vassal/march/junior partner (can't ask for independence support).

I was thankfully able to switch my steam account to Argentina before they patched that out of their system, so I was able to get all of the dlcs, minus the unit and immersion packs(but all the real content and features) for 40 dollars. I probably had about 1k hours without dlcs...I enjoyed it, but not being able to migrate, develop provinces(was locked behind a paywall for a long time), explore easily, were the main reasons why I wanted the dlcs.

Orthodox is not so bad, you will still get bonuses from patriarch authority. I would say that it is still one of the most powerfull religions in the game.

As someone who recently got into the game with the starter pack bundle I get very confused watching videos and being like "what's that mechanic?" Like some of the ones mentioned in this video I have. And then there's a bunch I don't. First run wasn't fun when I picked a Junior Partner of Burgundy and saw that all the guides said you need to ask nations to guarantee your independence. Maybe I'll get all the DLC if I win the lottery.

Aside from the problems from wars and the fact that you can't transfer provinces You cannot ask other nations to support your independence if you were to play Sweden for instance, which makes the campaign significantly harder as you'll face your overlord and their allies alone

Dude could you imagine me playing 1.1 without DLCs that sucks when some one says at starting you have to click many buttons but i don't have any. But I don't fell so miserable cuz I haven't played with 1.3 and DLCs. That sucks hard for me.
