This was the first F1 game I played on the Nintendo Wii. It was pretty bad, there was also this really weird bug which would lock you in 1st gear for the entire race from the start, you would have to completely re open the game to fix it.

The Wii was from a hardware-standpoint a pretty bad console. Not as bad as the Wii U (which was a absolute desaster), but still pretty bad. And as far as I know the PSP had a relatively good hardware. So yeah, that's probably the reason why F1 is so simmilar on both consoles.
