It was stated through the lore stories at tha boat that Kratos is stronger than Thor but only by little, in that universe the Thor belt and gloves don't exist and Kratos is not getting serious, holds back AND he has lost his magic because it was tied to his homeland which he destroyed, except the chaos's blade magic that primordial magic can't be erased. All of this are being explained during your boat travels and if you want to increase the chances of listening more of Kratos story and magic SPOOLERS spend more time with Freya at the boat travel Also the equivalent of Thor's hammer is the Leviathan axe so he does have the strength

I canot overstate how much I love odin in this game I absolutely adore how they made him not this overly masculine domineering badass old man like in Marvel but hes this clearly manipulative deceptively strong sort of charismatic sly spy esk guy. I feel like this portrayal just fits with his lore and storys so well and the subversion of him being talked up so much only for him to be soft spoken and seem nice is just genius.

This is almost exactly a comment I posted earlier lol. "People talk alot about Thors character design, but nobody talks about Odins. I like how they make him look like a frail, pathetic, deceitful old man. He doesn't look like a wise, strong, old king. He looks like a weasel, a snake waiting in the grass; working behind the scenes to manipulate everyone and everything to his own benefit. First thought in my head for the "winter man" is Kratos himself, I mean he is chalk white man that carries a magical frost axe that has killed several of the raiders that keep trying to kill him, it makes sense they would associate him with like a spirit, giant, demon or god of some sort that is alien to their folklore. In that sense reminds me of the Groke from Moominvalley, they probably see him in that sort of way, a monster that freezes people to death, and then he becomes associated with the unending fimbulwinter.

It's stated later that Freya told the raiders that Kratos is the cause of the long winter. They believe if they kill him it will stop.

@@Grangerforevermore Hell, you don't even need Freya to explain anything. There's a note hidden right after the fight with the huntress that the raiders wrote. Saying that the witch(Freya) told them that Kratos was the one who brought fimbulwinter by killing Baldur and killing him will stop it. And that they'll also feast on the flesh of a God.

If you talk to Brok just before you go to the gate to leave for Svartalfheim, he asks if they look like Dark Elves, then says that “Svartalfheim” is the Asgardian word for the realm, but the Dwarves call it “Nidavellir.” Also, Freya gave them a compass in the first one. There’s no cutscene for it. She mentions it when the compass tutorial screen pops up as you’re leaving her house for the first time

The holster for kratos's axe is an omega (his symbol) and the holster for atreasus bow is a snake the symbol of Loki in mythology!

Anytime you’re in the realm between realms or whatever, always go over to the part where you jump off with the Unity Stone in the last game. There’s always some hidden dialogue from others everytime you do it. Also those “dragons” or whatever when you first reach Sindri’s home that Atreus pointed out, throwing the axe at them offers extra dialogue too

You should read the Codex entries in your spare time. They’re written in a variety of POV’s, and they give some insight into the characters writing them, especially Kratos.

I absolutely love this game so far, ive made it further than what this videos progress. Im focusing on main quests b4 i get to the rest of the game. Idk y im that way but i cant wait to see how it turns out. If i get stuck, ill do side quests to try & get better weapons &/or armor. For the most part, ive been powering right through the main quests. I think ur gonna thoroughly enjoy how the story progresses. Im pleasantly surprised at how much ive seen so far. Gotta be game of the year, easily.

So I noticed that with Thor it’s Kratos in his current state isn’t strong enough. Fighting him is a losing battle but with Baldur you can fuck him up and he just doesn’t want to stay down. Like I do like how the fights or night in day to a degree.

After the first game I would have put a realm door under my house, Everyone tries to destroy the house and I would need to get back to fix it, also fast travel to home is good. Maybe I walk through the door into a wine cellar? after a hard day being Kratos having wine at hand would be nice.

Just gonna point out, The Leviathan axe is actually superior in some ways, to summon Mjolnir Thor has to snap, Kratos simple holds his hand open for his axe to come. Mjolnir seems stronger with its lightning control, while the Leviathan axe seems better for actual combat

Mythology Guy, if you ever want a new greek mythology show to review or just watch. Then I recommend Class of the Titans, a two seasons TV show about 7 descendants of great greek heroes such as Jason, Theseus, and Hercules who face off against Kronus as he escaped tartarus and attempts to take over the world. There are admittedly a few problems, like some inaccuracies, with the show but all in all its really good. Having characters in it such as Orion, Adonis, Pan, Cerberus, Talus, and Polythemus.

The fact Kratos’ death to Thor in there fight is scripted, means Thor canonically did kill him, and is more powerful, he just revived him for the fight

Not sure if its canon or not but in a book or something Mimir says that even he isn't sure if young kratos (Ghost Of Sparda) could beat Thor. Thor easily cut down dozens of giants, including Thamur, who is even bigger than Cronos.
