With all due respect, and admitting this guy is really good, but I don’t see anything that special. He’s doing a flamenco style with some taps and some sweet scales, but I hear stuff like this at sidewalk cafes on Miami Beach on any weekend. Again, no disrespect intended but I’m a guitarist (nowhere near as good) almost 60yrs old and been around guitarists all my life. This is really good but by no means unique. It actually reminds me of some of Jose Feliciano’s early stuff. 😁🍻

Tim was shredding metal at 16. He has literally been studying music since like 3. His mom made him start violin at that age i think he has stated. I think he started guitar at around 10. He is like 27 or 28 now so almost two decades of playing guitar. Dude just has amazingly rehearsed technique and as someone else stated he is always learning new things.

The thing that excites me most about this is that the male brain doesn't finish developing until about 25-27 years. He's been playing, and composing, all this time without full access to his pre-frontal cortex. Now that his tool box is complete, I expect his compositional chops to take a quantum leap. And I'm fuckin' here for it.

What you mention at 3:35 is an intentional part of their arranging. Since they both kinda share rhythm and lead roles, the two guitarists' parts are arranged so that each has their own sonic space to work in without clashing, the same as you'd pick and spread out notes in an extended piano chord.

I can't enjoy his music. As godly talented as he is, everything just strikes me as "look at how good I am", and it just feels empty. Maybe it's me. I recognize the talent but its does nothing for me.
@MoyosoreOgunbiyi

It's probably you on that take because if you follow his background you would understand that he's a product of the "Asian Mum" school of parenting (his Mum is Chinese) so heavy handed discipline and practice was the order of his upbringing. When you see him play his instrument effortlessly but yet show little to know expression it's because its taken years of hardcoded discipline to get to this point, from Age 3 onward as I understand it. And the added curse of being a genius is that you never feel compelled to enjoy the fruits of your effort because you are always chasing perfection even when by all accounts you've already achieved that somewhat intimidating state in the eyes of others. So instead of dismissing for lack of better judgement because you don't have all the fact, get to know more about him. Watch his interviews and see where he's coming from instead of standing from a distance. He's actually an easygoing, humble individual once you get to know him. So saying you can't enjoy his music, not because its objectively "bad" but rather because of what you think you don't like about "him" does both of you a disservice to the actual reason why you are meant to enjoy the music in the first place. Because it is good music...🤷
@slantythecamel
@slantythecamel Жыл бұрын
@@MoyosoreOgunbiyi My comment was literally solely about the music and nothing to do with the individual. When I say everything just strikes me as "look at how good I am" I'm referring to the music. The -music- is empty to me. I recognize the musical talent, it just doesn't do anything for me. When I listen to music the last thing I'm interested in is the person making it. It's either good music or it isn't, which is a personal choice based on taste.
