D3 equates to very little. After raising 3 boys that played D3 and did very well - it really leafs to no where. Go to Europe? No. It's generally not a good life. After about 3-5 years you are exactly where you started over there. Unless you are a very strong D1 player - there isn't much of a future. Even at D1 unless you are drafted the ECHL is most likely your destination and that's a waste of time. Unless you are drafted high in the NHL it's time to move on with life unless you choose to make very little and understand you are playing just for the love of the game. It's very frustrating to watch anyone to encourage boys to go to Europe.

We see where you’re coming from. And yes we agree that it’s all about expectations. If you’re coming from D3, usually playing pro means that you’re playing for the love of the game, and not necessarily to make a living out of it. That being said, we’ve seen some players have great pro careers following their time spent in D3, it’s just less common

I would disagree with you. Going to Europe to play hockey, would benefit by understanding and learning a different culture or cultures. The opportunity to travel to other countries is also a great benefit.

@ahadvising8 With all the respect, I know. You had 3 sons who played D3. But they are the experts they have more experience even if you had 3 sons who played D3 So they know what they're talking about.
