Simple game mechanics - the things you need early in the game (like the sea-glide and mobile vehicle bay) are in your starting area - and whatever you need to go farther is in the zone before you get there (in other words - the laser cutter tool is not in the starting ares because you don't need to open sealeded doors until you get to them).

Seriously, this game is so well designed. It also has a map that feels plenty expansive while being easy enough to navigate. The edge of the map isn't an invisible wall, but rather a dropoff protected by giant Ghost Leviathans, which adds to the player's perception of the world. Love it.

No you don't instantly die when you run out of oxygen. You will die. But it is slow. Also keep in mind you can still move when the screen fades to black. You are not dead until the death sound appears. Also if you play on hardcore, I advise you to rush the main story. The longer you play the buggier it gets. I died at full health in a Prawn Suit instantly just 5 meters from the final Alien Building away. I don't even know what happened.

If you pay people, no matter how much or little, it stimulates the poor to donate blood (blood products). Instead of anyone who thinks it's worth it. Even giving days off work (paid as if they worked) is not a stimulus for rich people. And using their circumstances to take their body parts is unfair to the poor. Blood donations are not healthy. Even though they are rather minimally invasive, that donation reflects in your health for months without any benefit. Plus the risk of some medical error. Plus not all blood gets to be used, some it's trashed. With that said, the detriment side is very minimal, incomparable to the benefits the use of that blood brings, saving lives. (My parents had "honourable donor" certificates. But I think they also just used to get something extra for donations when they were students)

Soma is more underwater horror. Dave the Diver has some similar traits but its generally wholesome and cozy , The Forest has similar survival and crafting mechanics. Raft has similar themes on ocean survival. Im not sure if it fits but maybe Bioshock too?

Similar games I can think of in terms of being Survival Crafting Adventure are: Grounded, Raft, The Forest/Sons of the Forest, and Green Hell. Grounded is my personal favorite. Subnautica is unique because of its underwater/ocean theme. There are other Survival games with the same theme, but they're really not like Subnautica otherwise.

Fun fact in NZ you are not paid for blood/plasma donations however tea, juice, coffee, biscuits, and snacks are provided as compensation. There is around 561 places to donate all over NZ. Plasma can be donated every 2 weeks and blood every 3? Or so months. You have to set up a donor ID to donate and this allows them to check if u are able to donate or no and how recent ur donations are.

It was cool that Mouse could join in on the journey and I know she means well, but yeah all that might’ve been a bit too much directing. Nothing wrong with letting the player discover things on their own, let them make mistakes, and give them a chance to learn instead of providing all the correct answers right away. A game is not enjoyable when you are being told what to do even when it is not a direct order. I get that some of it was to save him some time, but a dozen of that and you’ll overload the guy. Makes sense that he couldn’t retain all the information she gave him cuz he hasn’t encountered those scenarios yet himself.

Everytime the radio leads you somewhere there's a 90% chamce there are goodies in the area (wrecks, fragments, .resources) same with the "base" locations - even more likely if there are dangerous beasties in the area..

I will say the main downside to Subnautica is the lack of danger. There's many things that can damage you, but most things are only chip damage. Like even if you confront a leviathan if you're in a seamoth that alone can take 3 hits before dying. Everything else in the game does less damage than this.

I think one of the best examples are the stalkers and sand sharks barely doing any damage to the player. Also I think their AIs could have been slightly better and they could be faster. Heck, you are not supposed to be faster than a shark when swimming.

@@curumon streamers are often on streams for hours and they should get to eat something, you might say she should mute it because Connor is here to speak to chat but if she was alone and muted the viewers will just leave. And no, muting for a few seconds while you chew doesn't work especially if you chew slowly it might take a minute, people have zero patience. I don't care much about mouse if you wish to claim "white knighting" or whatever. I just think you should skip and shut up.
