I'm fascinated how much this is realistic. Canada was not a nation at that time, there was not even the concept of a Canadian nation as French Quebec people considered themselves as Canadian and English folks considered themselves as British. This was pretty much a leftover colony that somehow everybody forgot about - this is why the economy looks so terrible at the start. The reason behind the confederation was to unite the British colonies together against a potential threat from the US. Funny how you got Quebec pronunciation right, but not Newfoundland 😉

12:36 Britain usually attacks East India Company vassals, if you attack the East India company while they are at war with the British in the end of the war they become free. That helped me a lot when I played as the Sick Empire

Playing as the Sikh Empire, you can join the british market as a customs union pretty easily. Then if you attack a vassal of the EIC in the first 20 years (EIC journal entry) the EIC will be kicked out and become independent! Once the 20 year mark passes, the EIC will split up into small kingdoms because they failed the journal entry: Easy pickings now ;)

Well, I repeatedly went bankrupt trying this... I Confederated a little faster, but never got any offers for GB to take on my debt. Also you already have the 'Alaska/Klondike' gold, it is in the Yukon... Many Americans who went north for the Gold Rush were shocked to lean that the Klondike was in Canada and that American laws did not apply there... That is why the Royal Canadian Mounted Police AKA the Mounties are actually known in the US..

I'm in Canada right now. They do say sorry a lot here 😆 But sorry isn't generally used as an apology, it's used as a "pardon me" or "what" when getting someone to repeat something, or an "excuse me" or "If I could have a moment of your time" when getting someone's attention.

You pretty much always want a spending deficit. It's good to have reserves, but if you can hit that sweet spot where your deficit is equal to or just less than the increase in credit limit, then you're golden.

Try playing as the hudson bay company. You get claims over ontario and quebec so when you gain them you don't have to incorporate them. The only provinces you do is BC and the atlantic provinces. Also you can play as a starting Canadian nation and not go into debt. Build gradually and construct construction centres when you have at least a million gold while having good income. Edit: You also need to incorporate the territories too

So, this is interesting. You can tell Paradox did put one or 2 days into how Canada was united... Ludi keeps calling them states. Looks like george washington was paradox's historical advisor for this nation. "Ontario" is one province, that just holds the major canadian cities. Great 👍 gj paradox

The main reason I don’t have this game is the fake geography. It’s almost like the map makers have never seen an actual map before. Best example in this video is the non-existence of the St Lawrence River: The most important body of water in Canada.

Still Triggered that the state is New Brunswick and not Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia was the larger and first colony in the area. NB was created after the American Independence war when NS was spilt in half to deal with the influx of crown loyalists

Genuinely and wholeheartedly Victoria 3 is one of the prettiest games I've ever had the chance to watch and play, but the main problem is it always feels like managing my economy, politics and the general inner workings of the game is like a total maze. With your videos and you coming in to explain step-by-step it actually helps IMMENSELY so if you could make more videos like these it'd be greatly appreciated, they're pretty entertaining already!

The Hudson Bay Company has claims on those Canadian colonies at the start, preventing the US from colonizing them, you incorporating the Hudson Bay Company removed those claims.
