Mets have to add another top of the line starter. You have to be in on Julio Urias or guys like that. Treat Verlander and Scherzer as mid rotation starters. They’re gonna need someone to be the No. 1 guy in the rotation. Not only in 2024, but down the road in 2025, 2026 etc.

The idea that the Mets must win now just puts more pressure on a team that has clearly been pressing all year. I'm sure at some point this team will start winning consistently, but the attitude that it's now or never is counterproductive, in my opinion.

The mistakes included paying ace $ for pitchers who can no longer be aces, and thinking they still could be aces. Also if your goal is the World Series, riding older starters often doesn’t end well.

This season is an example strait out of Sun Tsu’s The Art of War. If one player is performing poorly then that is a discipline issue on the part of the player. If it is poor performance from the whole team then it is a leadership problem. If it’s not Buck’s fault the it’s the pitching and batting coaches fault which translates into Buck’s fault. He either has to come down on the players or the coaches or both. Giving everyone slack just provides hanging rope.

that whole Buck discussion is how modern Internet fans are in a perfect nutshell. just completely clueless in every way and every statement. if you didnt want Buck, you're lost. if you blame Buck youre just not very not lost.
