Playing the WoW 1.14.x Client on 1.12 Servers & The WoW 2.5.x Client on 2.4.3 Servers [2024]

******Updated January 2024****** The only file that needs to be copied at the 8:56 time stamp section is the "Arctium WoW Launcher.exe" the other files don't exist in the newer releases of Hermes Proxy as it was cleaned up. I forgot to mention a few things: - I recommend before you edit the server files to shut the authentication and world server services down first. After the edits have been made then fire them back up. - I forgot to mention another benefit to the new Classic clients is that you can use most of the new add-ons that support those client versions. I say most because some are expecting some server chatter that the old servers don't offer. So take add-on compatibility with a grain of salt.

When using this method to connect to Netherwing is a TBC Private Server, if you enter the dungeon and kill monsters and burst green quality equipment, your account will be forced to go offline.

It could be how that private server is handling warden modules. Hermes proxy is also still a work in progress with some quirks

Having a hard time finding a 1.14 torrent, where did you get your client? The only place that seems reliable is WoWDL but the only mirror is in france and it's a super low transfer rate that's failed multiple times for me.

Sorry for the delayed response. Setting the Everlook IP or URL on line 32 here kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6SthH9tfpWhl80 should do the trick if they allow the use of HermesProxy.

Yes, it does. At least most will be fine. Some might have issues.

Amazing video! Im trying to use 2.5.2 classic on server Netherwing (2.4.3). Everything seems ok (load client, accept user/pw, load realms list) but when I click on the realm to load the characters it disconect automatically. Hermes Proxy says: Error | WorldSocket | The WorldClient failed to connect to the selected world server! Error | AuthClient | Socket Closed By Server Has anyone managed to connect with the tbc classic client to the Netherwing server? Its because the server is protected against it? I tried with client 1.14 on some Vanilla servers and worked well.

If they have strict version checking or warden enabled it can cause problems. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how they have their server configured.

I did multiple tests, really wanted try to make it work because I read some comment that logged in to the server. Finally found what was the mistake: Changed the OS setting to "Win" as you said on the video. And.. bingo! Tried so many things before, download your Hermes version (I had the one from Brotalnia video, it says January), download 2.5.3 client (I had 2.5.2 and now work both), try many diferent servers, and something else more probably... Is strange that Brotalnia doesnt say nothing about OS setting on his video.

It's possible they have strict version checking in place which will drop it.

Unfortunately, only the versions I mention in the guide are still the ones that work. The team behind Hermesproxy hasn't seen enough of a need for change to make it work with newer client versions.

I just tried this for everlook and wow-hc vanilla servers and noticed that the quests aren't showing on the map/minimap and there is no icon to change what you're looking for (like repair, class trainers, flight paths ecc.). Went on and double checked your video and it seems like you have the same problem while loggin on the vanilla server, do you know any workaround for this issue? Anyhow thanks for the video and explanation.

It's still in development and it's a known bug right now. Questie would be the best workaround.

The developers of it decided to only focus on Vanilla and TBC. Although with the latest changes it might spark them to look into it.

@@Digital-Scriptorium As far as I'm aware, the Arctium Launcher is already compatible with WrathC. It's the Hermes Proxy that would need an update for it to work.

It sniffs that information out connecting to the server you have set in the config file.
