Playing with induction heater for brass annealer project

I had my mind on making brass annealer using induction heater for some time and finally ordered beefy power supply. Video abruptly ends as my phone runs out of memory. I plan to make a tighter coil and put water through it to prevent the coil from heating up.

Thats a cool project. I’ve got a full size automotive inductor that I use to remove rusted bolts. I didn’t realize it worked with non-ferrous metals? I think I’ll see how it works for annealing. Thanks for getting the old brane turning:)

Yep, it works on brass but less effective. The efficiency should increase when I wind new coil with less diameter for concentrated effect. I also can use this to anneal my gas check punches, should make it very simple.

Also your right from what I've found you want the cartridge to fill 1/3 of the coil I've seen #12 copper wire with a high temp white sleeve that worked fast

I found a thread that details the key information I was missing at the time of the video. I picked up the project again recently and will post updated video. I was able to successfully anneal in 4 seconds 223 brass but working to solve PCB overheating issue.

Use a contactor so it only heats when a case is present also you don't need that big of a coil to sneak the brass neck good video

I was going to wind my own coil, I got thinner copper tube as well as solid thick copper wire, I also ordered high temp sleeve to protect the coil from heat but my induction board died sadly. At this point I think I'll build Aneelez type machine, it's less complicated. I've seen youtube video and ordered main parts long time long time ago, it's just a matter of making one.

Gong to build a full blown GinaErick style induction annealer? Some people have built fully automated induction annealing machines I was looking into this at one point and saw that a lot water cooling the loop. I ended up getting a Ballistic Recreations salt bath annealer, but haven't gotten around to using it yet.

It shouldn't even matter if it was getting hot if it were actually properly thermally isolated. Just give it appropriate housing instead of laying it on the carpet

it ended up dying on me, I am guessing something overheated and fried, I even bought sleeve for coil but haven't installed on time.

I answered your question on one of my vids, for some good ideas/info see forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/induction-brass-annealer-redux.3908353/ Tons of great info, very long thread. You can insulate the coil from grounding with lacquer clearcoat or similar. To run at near 100% duty you need to water cool the coil and what works best is several glue on heatsinks on the bottom of the induction board near the capacitor leads with a good fan.

Скоро эта плата сгорела без оxлаждения. Я заказал другую на 1800 Ват и водяное охлаждение по медной трубке, служит до сиx пор, закаливаю мелкие детали но честно 500 в блок питания не хватает, давно уже планировал заказать 1000 ват, выпала хороший дил на 2400 ват но требует 240 вольт а нас 120 так я вот застрял нужно менять рубильники и проводку сделать но испытывал предварительно, работает зверски :) деталь накалилась так что ослепляла, даже засчитная ткань почернела и деталь просто была испорченна, надо будет поставить другую спираль трубку с пошире диаметром.

Nah, it's too far away to make a difference, I'll have to retest it but I am pretty sure I was getting same draw without the dish too.
