I wish Hunter's Mark had "Reaction: When you deal damage to attached enemy with a fight action, exhaust Hunter's Mark to deal 1 additional damage." This would make it actually be a good include. As is, it's liable to just be Vicious Blow 3 and 4 in your deck for an xp and a resource. Most of the time the fighter is going to play it to do the fourth damage against a Nightghaunt or something. If it exhausted, it would basically only matter for bosses, where the +1 fist would matter for everyone fighting and for the cost of 1 resource and 1xp your vicious blow gets multiple uses against really big bosses. Charon's Obol/Great Work Delve Too Deep Sefina or Dexter. 5 unbound xp per game is pretty good. If you are Dexter you can also easily go Arcane Research/Down the Rabbit Hole. Great Work eats the xp you often lose to DtRH when getting a few high xp cards. I do agree that its not an auto include, but if you are in a core plus drowned city collection, its probably necessary to play new mystic cards efficiently. Spending 2 resources to recover from crypt chill is cool, also lockpicks burns itself. As you mentioned, it could also go in a Joey deck. Lawrence seems great for survivor discard. George seems great for survivor discard. I haven't really touched that archetype yet so I have no idea how good any of it will be.

I'm with Erik 100% on Carlisle. I would rather him cost one more and add another damage or horror soak. Love The Great Work/Lost Humungulus--fantastic design and balancing. George Barnaby looks like incredible fun. I'm looking forward to playing him, Lucius not-Malfoy, Marion Tavares, and Michael McGlen (assuming the backs of their cards are legit, of course). Hyped!!

If it was a different class I might agree about wanting the extra soak, but I think survivor can handle it.

My problem with George is that he feels like a lot of moving parts to more or less be Patrice. You can work a lot of fast discard effects in and manage your basement to make sure you get 4 draws, or just draw 5 every turn with Patrice by existing. There exists a very specific niche where he actually pulls ahead where you're consistently getting almost as many cards while also being able to commit the skills you discard but conversely if you're piloting him extremely well like that your 3 signature cards are now dead draws because they really only serve to save bad discards you regretted later. I think most often if I were to play a discarding deck I would play Patrice to save myself the hassle. Also much like with the complaints about Nathaniel Cho, "deck that plays cornered and similar cards to discard and is largely made of skills" is a pretty inflexible archetype that will largely look the same every time.

@@andrewrobson9363 I don't believe you're correct with this assessment (I think him and Patrice play a completely different kind of discard style. George gets extra value on top of discard he chooses to do, while Patrice gets extra value because she has to. There's a big difference between being forced to use it or lose it and choosing what to discard for optimal choices), but I think there is still a lot to see in the set before I'm making any specific assessments of George.

@@PlayingBoardGames I don't believe it is that different if you're trying to maximize the utility/power of him. Yes, George has more capacity to hold onto niche cards for a better scenario, but the more you hold onto your cards the less you're drawing with him since you're not exactly playing a big hand build (though on reflection I wonder if Lab Assistants let him get over his limit) so the more you slow down.

I was not particularly interested in George Barnaby until I started thinking about his interaction with Forced Learning. Every upkeep you get to draw 2, discard 1, draw another 1, and then get to commit the card you discarded.

@@Chiungalla79 Well the cost is that it makes your base deck size 50, 41 of which have to be Survivor cards, and there just aren't 41 good Survivor cards.

@@Yrevnoc Including neutral cards there nearly are 41 okayish ones though. And with the new set new ones will emerge. But you could always include cards you ultimately only want to throw under your investigator to commit them. After scenario 1 you could add a couple of 1-2 XP cards in exchange for the fillers and you will be golden.

Now I started wondering if I should do a Just For Fun camapign run with Dexter, adding Charon's Obol, two Arcane Researches, a Down the Rabbit Hole AND a Great Work, just to get ridiculously overpowered by the end of the campaign and run out of cards to upgrade!

I could say. It's going to be awesome. You can basicly put everything you need into the Underworld Market at this point. Not caring too much about your deck and unreliabilities any more.

​@Chiungalla79 Correct, but since the taboo, it's been harder and harder to justify running the market, since it eats so much experience now that used to go towards actually buying the cards you need to go under it. Add to it the resource tax for getting the card, and the fact the card you need at the moment could be at the bottom, it might just be too large a setup time for too little payoff.

Kinda wish you could still edit your deck as lost homunculus. If you win a scenario as lost homunculus you should at least be able to use the xp. I guess it’s meant to be equivalent to dying with obal

Calling it right now: Mob Connections is going to be broken in mid to end-campaigns. Underground Market(2) with Fence (1), 2*Thieve Tools (3), 2* Britigh Bulldog (2), Dirty Fighting(2)... unlimited investigating and shooting for printed agility of 5 rogues (and without the upgrade to Thieve Tools Wendy). And it's not even that many XP in total.

Have you been playing with the recent taboo for the market? That is alot of setup and experience for a so-so effect that doesn't advance the game and requires further investment to pay off. Not to say it won't be fun, I'm just skeptical on how reliable it will be.

@mr.blackpitts6850 Yes, I did. The price you are paying is a bargain for the consistency you get compared to the regular card draw. Fence becomes awesome if you have 9+ other cards to trigger it with. Just add two Paydays (fast with Fence) and and Embazzled Treasure to the mix and your ressource problem will be gone. And it will absolutely guarantee your character being online within the first few moves. Consistently getting cool cards in the later moves. With the new cards comming you could probably leave your regular deck at home and still be quite usefull.

@Chiungalla79 I agree with what you have said, my only argument is the opportunity cost of playing so many cards that don't directly contribute to winning the game. I view it as a speed vs consistency type deal where I have to weigh whether I can afford to pay for the card right now, or save the action and resource to advance the game immediately.

@mr.blackpitts6850 In late campaign my rogues go through the ressources on their Thieves Tools (because of bonus actions) so fast that they need a refill. 🤷‍♂️ Otherwise the cluever would have to do his or her job. 🤷‍♂️

My wife has taken Charen's Obol through 10-20 campaigns on Hard mode and (since the card was printed) they have all also included in the thick of it. When your Obol experience is spent on 2 Charisma it's easy to imagine how she has never died. The great work is Charon's Obol that's better for early game

Mob connections is not that difficult to find for rogues. *underworld market guarantees to find it in the first 5 turns *Dirty deeds finds any illicit asset in your deck *friends in low places can find it in the top 6/9 cards of your deck *smuggled goods (finn edwards only) can find it in the top 9 all of these can also find your guns. underworld support can make it easier to find by reducing decksize. With the rat it's infinite ammo on your guns. seems like a pretty clear use case.

George seems to be a spike’s wet dream getting “value upon value” and that “mode” gives me the least enjoyment in this game. But he’s also the only TDC investigator I’m mildly interested in so we’ll see.

I wonder if The Great Work is worth it in Kate, since seeker doesn't have a lot of exp boosters (some can play down the rabbit hole). TBH, I think that you should just retire the investigator most of the time rather than try to make the homunculus work, so I don't think not playing spells in Kate is a real downside.
