My friend was killed over selling a oz of grass beside me about 12 years ago a couple years before it was slightly legalized where I live. He and I were listening to Pink Floyd Shine on you crazy diamond in his 08 impala as it happened. This song always hits different after that day, but today it hits my heart like that .22 did his watching and listening to this group perform Rogers song so perfectly in my opinion. There isnt a person who knew him that dont miss him and wish he was here everyday. The day his mom, dad and I got his car back from the police station it finished playing the rest of Shine on. Rest EZ BWill and thank you for watching over me like a true friend. Come on you raver, you seer of visions, Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine.

in 2013 I lost a friend to suicide and at school in 8th grade I had spoken word this song for him and every time I hear it I think of him. In 2021 I was in Seattle and it was the exact day he died and someone was randomly playing this on the street with just a guitar and it was just like something magical.

This song hits so hard! It makes me think about the time I still have in this life and makes me enjoy every single moment with those around me, my children, my love. Most of my friends have turned their backs on me lately, even though nothing has happened. Some of them have been friends for over 20 years. I know that this is part of the journey, cycles are made to be completed and now I think of them as gone, at least the version I once knew, and this song reminds me a lot of them and the old days.
