Ive recently moved to a rural town and people here go to sleep a lot earlier than Im used to. I work and read until later, and when I look outside at night, it feels like Im the only human being on earth. There is no one around. And the silence is so deep. When there is no wind, it feels like time has stopped.

so nice to see here my hometown (12:52). in winter there`s no sun because of the polar night, and in summer there`s no night because of the polar day. you see large numbers on houses - its for those moments when people cant see the actual address because of blizzards. The city is called Norilsk, it`s located in the Russian Far North and winter there lasts 9 months out of 12. That`s the key reason why it seems to be empty but actually it has special vibe living there :)

Why do I feel so safe listening to this? So peaceful? It's like everything around me just stops; reality breaks off for a minute and I'm left with nothing but the empty silence. It's like a surreal new world has opened up, a place where no one can find me, nor can my troubles reach me. I see these pictures and I desire nothing more than to just be alone, walking through the quiet, as my memories shatter and my fears go to rest.

The playlist (so far) is helping me feel like my soul is just filling this empty room and helping me pick up perspectives that I didn't have. These compositions belong on nostalgic movies. Utterly beautiful. Thank you for the compilation.

I swear I've tried children's lullaby music, acoustic guitar music, and even the Disney piano music I use to fall asleep faster and none of it worked. I definitely feel the emptiness, the loneliness, the abandonment in this music and I love it as I can relate to it.

These paintings remind me of places from my dreams that I dreamed of as a child. I live in Ukraine, I come from Kyiv, at the age of six I moved to a city near Kyiv, it was called Vyshhorod. The city was a typical post-Soviet city (then 1997). So I moved to the city and went to school, but the class I went to was, to put it mildly, not friendly, there were children from disadvantaged families in my class, so their behavior was rude and aggressive, and I in turn from a normal family where no one used alcohol or drugs, so I was not an aggressive child. Because of my peaceful nature, I was persecuted by my classmates, the teacher was indifferent (then Ukraine was not in its best years). Due to my apathetic state, I was very rarely happy then, except for the 5-channel TV and the old radio, there was nothing else in Ukraine. my only occupation was doing homework and playing with Soviet toys on the weekends, my father sometimes took me to work. I studied in this class for 3 years, then moved to another class, where I had friends with whom I still communicate and gloomy dreams have stopped dreaming of me since I moved to another class.

This reminds me of the songs I would make up on the spot anad sing softly to myself in the middle of nowhere. just sitting on the hood of my car with my guitar for hours during random hours in the day or night. I love that quiet stillness of a sleeping city, or unkempt countryside. The kind of music that just begins to write itself as you shut down and stare into the void, softly humming the melody, plucking the strings, and letting your thoughts drift in and out of being happy, sad, heartbroken, and in love.

(5:29) the sidewalk stretches on, and on, away into the distance (or so you assume; the fog is heavy and thick, and you can't tell if you've just been walking in circles or not). the side roads... well, you haven't tried any of them just yet, but something at the back of your brain tells you it wouldn't make any difference. rain falls around you, softly; it bounces off of the pavement, and drips off of leaves, and beads in the grass. it is completely silent. there is no pitter-patter of the storms you know from before, no thunder, no lightning. at first, you were disturbed by it, but it isn't so bad, really. it's almost nice. does wonders for your headache, at least. the unease has faded, and has been replaced by a heavy sort of feeling, weighing on your shoulders and sternum, pulling at the backs of your eyes. you could blame it on exhaustion, but it seems deeper than that. not quite sadness- nostalgia, maybe? for what, exactly, you couldn't say, but the word feels right. you turn it around in your mind as you walk. _nostalgia_ . such a funny thing. you splash through a puddle when you step down off the curb (you stopped caring that your sneakers were soaked through ages ago), and cross the street to where the sidewalk continues on. you've lost count, but it must be... it must be at least the 50-something-th time, now. you'll walk in a straight line for a count of almost exactly 249 steps, and then up comes the road with the puddle again. you'll step down, over the silently bubbling water, and keep going. there hasn't been any other sign of life, but you still look both ways before crossing the street, on instinct. on all sides, the world fades away into the fog. maybe it was different, before. maybe there was sunlight, and birds, and kids with skateboards, or something. maybe the dawn would stream through the clouds and the whole street would be lit up in that funny white-gold early-morning haze. you focus on the memory of dawn, and it buzzes along through your bones as more nostalgia. rain drips off your nose, slides down your neck. you're cold. the same thing at the back of your brain that's telling you the side roads go nowhere has been adamantly telling you to not stop walking. so walk you do: right, left, right, left, right, left..... not difficult, but it does get a bit old. in the quiet (so quiet, so quiet; not a single sound at all apart from the ones you make), the tap-tap of shoe sole on concrete almost echoes. not quite, but it feels like it should. right, left, right, left, right, le- from somewhere, there is a low rumble. your heart skips a beat (rather clichéd, but an apt description) and you perk your ears up. are you less alone than you thought? could there be- is there something out there? you listen. you don't stop walking (you tried, once, a while ago, and the back-of-the-brain thing really didn't like it), but you listen. it sounds almost like... a motor? right, left, right, left. the end of the street will be coming up soon. Those were steps 233 through 236. the rumble grows louder, throbbing in your inner ear in the absence of the silence. deep, and low, and rhythmic. you've reached the end of the sidewalk. you look left: nothing. grey fog. you look right: nothi- oh. oh, there is something. cutting through the rain and the fog, there are two round beams of light, advancing towards the crossroads. _headlights,_ you realise. your headache pangs in the sharp glare. the thing at the back of your brain wails like a cornered animal.

I've always enjoyed being alone ever since I was young. The friends I've made across the years were by chance and I try my best to foster those friendships but they end up dying on their own. It's not selfishness, pride, egotism, but I enjoy being alone, I used to think it strange that I would talk to myself and have an interior dialogue, but it's true. As an introvert who deals with depression and anxiety, these songs bring much solace and validation to my life, as if I'm understood. Beautiful how many stories music brings together, sending loving vibes to everyone.

When I think of the world’s empty but stunningly beautiful places this is the ambient music you listen to while gazing up at the Northern Lights in the Norwegian fjords or traveling around the remote, wild coastline of Greenland admiring the landscape dotted in white blankets of snow or hiking the magnificent mountain ranges in Iceland while gazing up at the unpolluted night sky.

I tend to think about this sort of thing whenever I find myself out in the middle of nowhere on the Slade Farm in Hawkinsville, all alone. It’s not just a slow day out there today; everything has come to a dead stop. Everyone has decided to stay in for the weekend, but not me. I’d certainly respect their decisions, but centuries ago, walking around the land got us connected to what really matters in life. It just feels lonely knowing there’s a high likelihood that I’ll be the only folk(s) for miles (depending on if I’m with one of the Griffins on the trip or not), and that what’s usually already quiet with the exception of places like Mock Spring at peak hours and weekdays has now become dead silent. It’s not necessarily a bad thing at all, of course, but it somehow feels unusually so, almost like… everyone’s left for an extended vacation.

It’s been such a crazy year.. people come and go. But one thing that always rings true is you’re always left with yourself at the end of everyday. You are you’re one and only. At times of emptiness you are your company. I am finding more and more that being alone is haunting, yet peaceful and surreal. Sometimes when I am alone for so long I lose touch with reality. I notice all of the beauty and appreciate everything around me. The sounds, the feelings and the sights. Life is truly beautiful and it goes by so quickly. Enjoy the little moments. Tell the people you love that you love them even if you are afraid. If you haven’t been alone in a while, go out and do it even if it’s for an hour. In times of loneliness you find yourself. In times of loneliness you learn to be who you need when nobody is there. Great playlist! Perfect for listening to on long drives or times where you are alone. It really makes you reflect on everything.

So I have a story I will tell because this reminds me of it. This past November I was hiking up in the mountains above my home, it was snowing and foggy. I had decided to go explore up in some old lava flows around the area, but in order to get access to them I had to scramble down a steep bank, pass through a thicket of red brush with a last few yellow leaves clinging to their frozen branches (it was late fall/early winter), and then carefully cross over a heavy muskeg belt that ran horizontally to the lava flows. It was getting later in the evening, I had a small handgun with me and I was wearing hunters orange as it was an active unit for late elk. I was clearly visible to anyone... or anything with eyes. I slid down the bank balancing on my haunches, my boots leaving small skid trails in the half frozen mud. I hit the ground with a soft thud and it was there I stopped for a moment, looking out beyond the brush and the few scraggly cedar trees that were like the silent sentinels of the muskeg beyond.. a soft wind was blowing across my right cheek and it made a quite hushing moan as it passed across the empty barren land before me.. I almost turned back there. Something in me turned, this didnt feel right. I pushed on through the brush, but as I broke through the other side, I noticed one solitary set of elk tracks going the same way as I was. They were small (for an elk) and so I figured this was the trail of some old solitary cow elk, who had left the sanctuary of the thick cedar forest behind me in search of better feed and water. As i carefully picked my way across the muskeg and the freezing murky water, the tracks somehow never faded from view. Sometimes they crossed to my right or left, but she was headed the same way as I was... I reached halfway across the muskeg before something felt horribly wrong.. I stopped, and I rested my right hand lightly over the small sidearm in its holster at my hip. I felt like I was being watched. The wind had ceased its moaning cry, and no birds or beast stirred.. I felt the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Still, the elk prints continued on and my curiosity got the better of me somehow.. I kept going. Soon enough i reached the other side of the muskeg and found myself looking up the steep rocky face of the entrance to the lava flows... the snow was thick here where the wind had blown it into drifts and it was as I scanned the snow that I noticed something... strange. The elk prints. They stopped here. No continuing up the bank, no turning back... they just stopped. "No blood" I thought to myself, no other prints except for mine.. I scrambled up the steep rocky face, avoiding the deep gashes in the basalt, some as deep as I was tall, and wide enough for me to have trouble jumping across had I been so foolish. The frozen moss that covered them made patches of them slick as well, where the snow hadnt piled up... as I reached the top, it was perfectly flat. young spruce trees like lodge poles covered the lava flows, and again I felt that feeling as if I was being watched... only worse this time. Suddenly, I heard something massive crashing in the distance, something much much bigger than anything I had ever seen. The tops of spruce trees were swaying madly. I sprang down the bank, and I dont know how I crossed the muskeg again without falling into the calf deep, icy water but somehow I managed to run across it like some possessed thing. I crashed through the brush and climbed up the other side of the bank from where this adventure had started.. and I looked back for one last time out at the barren belt.. and it was like I, and the cow, had never been there. I will never go out across the lava flows again, not unless I have my rifle with me. There are strange things out in the empty lands that I cannot explain. Anyways, im sorry this is so long. I havent shared this story in full with anyone. I dont believe in many cryptids, but whatever I found out there in the lava flows meant to do me harm, and it wasnt any normal animal. Be safe out there

Im not introverted, i have friends, go out, have a great time and im full of life, but no matter where i go and do, i only feel real alive and truly happy in places and hearing music and sounds, that usually makes you feel the opposite of happy and relax:)
