Actually his line changes are okay and realistic. Coaches change up lines all the time in the playoffs, especially after losses or close games. And the line changes helped John to get 3 Stanley cups now cause this way he was able to find the right combinations to blanket each team.

The early scoring is a result of giving up goals at all. The playoff sim seems to have a snowball effect that snowballs way faster than the regular season. If your goalie has 1, just 1, bad game that drops his % he'll perform like Bednar did regardless of his rating. Same for shooting percentage etc. That's why the seasons you've won have been dominating to the cup.
