John, one of the reasons you were able to grow Henriksen in the last series was because you were winning games and had high overall players like Sprong and Gurianov in the minors. I know you have a cap situation and it wouldn’t be possible to acquire such skilled players for the minors anymore, but maybe try to scout some cheap 82-81 overall players with term that have good chemistry with Jade instead of the low 72- overall guys with top 9 forward/top 6 d potential. That way, when Jade is ready to come up to the NHL, you also have some players that you KNOW work with her chemistry.

Johnny if you don't want to make the time commitment of assigning your scouts to players, at least set them all on "Find Prospects" for the whole season. If you do that you get lots of players identified as Gems and Busts and you know their role for certain, and the scouts don't waste time scouting players ranked 800+. You won't know their potential but it's better than just guessing, and it doesn't take much time to set up.

Also John, you can definitely build a team for defense this year because in my San Jose GM mode we had Burns and Dekeyser on the first line with a +5, Karlsson and Vlasic on the 2nd (+1), and Ferraro and Hunt on the 3rd (+1) with 5 of our bottom six players on offense, 2 way forwards. With those combined with 85 ovr Dubnyk in goal, we were tied for the least goals against per game in the league (and had a 60 win season). Just letting you know that if you ever wanted to try to build a team in a defensive way instead how you normally do in an offensive way, you can definitely be a great team. And you already know this but goalie stats definitely do matter...

I think you’ve done an amazing job with the team so far. You’ve got us setup for a very exciting 2 year run and after that we have flexibility to make decisions about the future from there, whether that be another hard push for the cup or a reset and going young again and being patient. Johnny I just started a San Jose gm mode the other day and in year 1 I got a B- head coach that got a +5 on the 1st line for Meier, Couture, and Hertl, a +5 on the 2nd with Kane, Marleau, and some 75 ovr AHL guy Kellman, and a +5 with Burns and Dekeyser on the first D pair... Karlsson was on the SECOND line and Dubynyk in goal.60 win season along with a presidents trophy and in the playoffs we lost in the Western Conference Finals Game 7 OT. A B- coach isn’t bad Johnny. He turned the SAN JOSE SHARKS into a 60 win team that could’ve easily won the Stanley Cup if it wasn’t for a lucky OT goal in game 7. Also, I’m pretty sure he had the same line strategies as Jade Becket (which doesn’t really matter because I’m pretty sure player’s strategies vary depending on the franchise mode save). Basically what I’m trying to say is, fire Calico, he’s garbage, and promote Jade Becket to NHL head coach. She won’t grow in the AHL. Not to mention after that one year, my B- coach grew to A-... in one year.

Johnny I have a couple moves in mind: 1) Bring up Robertson for the Regular Season and put him on 3C because he gets good chemistry 2) Get a veteran depth defensemen better than Marincin preferably in the low 80s 3) Move Steel+Korpi for a stud starting goalie 4) Get Vincent Trocheck who you can play on the 4th Line during the regular season and than put him on the 3rd Line in the playoffs 5) Get 2-Way depth forwards

Bring up Jade, Your growth wont come unless you have +5's. Those long term deals are shit if you dont grow them. You can always get a guy for 2 mil 82 ovr and below. The reason why you had success in Seattle is from the growth with the cheap deals. Jade is perfect, just go for it and take a chance. Your not gonna grow if you keep the same coach every year.

Give Jade a chance as interim head coach, you can snipe the DET coach if they end up firing him, or just go with someone else if Jade shits the bed. Your players are good enough to make the playoffs despite their coach, they already rebounded from a horrible start, but you don't have the cap flexibility to make trades without moving roster players, and you've got to make a change to move this team forward. I think you had a great year and had some bad luck with injuries. Chicago is pretty good team as well so losing to them isn't the worst ever. You did raise the bar so the next season the expectations will be huge. If I was to think of myself as the owner you would have to really fail hard for me to fire you. I would be more than happy to tell the media to fuck off for you. Also this is just me but I would be very tempted to trade one of the big 4 for a big time stud Dman.
