The Deathwatch Community Project inaugural battle is piloted by Space Marine Steve and he is in for quite the fight against Tycho and his newly minted Tyranids in this 1,500 point game. The Deathwatch were all created by members of our Patreon community and the Tyranids were commissioned from DrRhino_ / drrhino_

Yeah but he rolled 3 6's, benediction of fury inflicts 1 mortal wound in addition to other damage on an unmodified wound roll of 6 so he ACTUALLY should have killed him.

I feel like the dice had more influence on the outcome of the game than anything else. I mean like... Four 1s for Steve's Chaplain? So many 5s and 6s on saves for Tycho? Daaamnit (Mubin), that throws any tactic out of the window. :D Still very fun to watch. Just wish Steve had a bit more luck with his dice rolls sometimes.

What I find cool about the deathwatch is as you’re playing you can pretend your friend is your squad mate from another chapter so you can make little roasts like in DW tyranid invasion (I personally love the Space Wolves roasting the Blood Angels)

Welcome to the hivemind, lol. I started a year ago and Tyranids are my army of choice, and it has been a blast putting my collection together. If your looking for recommendations, I'd suggest Warriors and the Winged Hive Tyrand--they're some of my favorite looking models and they're really effective in the meta right now. (Plus they're not finecast--not sure what that other commenter was on about, there are not very many finecast Tyranid models).

AMAZING! Two community-painted armies going head to head, and even though Steve lost, he DID NOT make it easy for Tycho. Cool under pressure and some impressive maneuvers in the end made sure that the Deathwatch put up a helluva fight. Was wanting Harlequins, but oh well: Tyranids with a new codex is just as amazing!

Honestly could have gone a different way if Steve fielded some killteams of firstborn veterans to access all of the deathwatch’s tricks such as special ammo for all normal bolters and a slew of special weapons like a combi heavy bolter and heavy flamer or frag cannons

Great game, only gripe I have for the Deathwatch army is missing out on the army’s bread and butter which is the special issue ammo that firstborn vets get to use without paying a CP for one squad to use it every round

Amazing game guys. Can someone explain to how having a unit touch terrain allows it to see through and shoot ? If it touches does it count as being in the terrain piece ?

The center building piece had the obscured keyword, meaning that if neither you or the enemy model is on the terrain piece, then line of sight is considered blocked by the terrain piece. Since the razorback touched the terrain piece, its now on the terrain piece and can shoot through it and be shot through it.

It does not say in the rules that touching a terrain piece counts as being in the terrain, so many people do not play it that way, but some people do.

Impaling hooks does not give +1 to hit for the whole unit of genestealers. Only the models that have the flesh hooks which is 1 model per every 4 in the unit.

You know I really enjoyed hell from time to time they would do a quick close-up of the models and name the painter. I actually think they'd be a cool idea I know I would at least enjoy it, if during this regular games every now and then during an attack or shooting phase etc show like a quick little close up of the unit I know one of my favorite parts is always the Army showcase at the beginning.
